if you want the complete set, with t6, go to their website and order it there : gsm4world

i'm not sure if you need to swap the middle housing.. but thus far all of the 8700 g/r/c/v are the same except for keypad and outter housing.. i changed my 8700c to an 8700v using the same middle housing.. i know that not the same as an 8707v but... though i would give ya another view/angle...

Unhappy No speakerphone in the kits on ebay

I have been searching ebay for a complete housing kit for 8700v. It appears that the online sellers do not carry the rear housing with built-in speaker phone anymore. All I found were items like this...

cgi.ebay.com/BlackBerry-8700v-OEM-Housing-w-Keypad-vodafone_W0QQitemZ120106787962QQihZ002QQcategoryZ1 08649QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem]eBay: BlackBerry 8700v OEM Housing w/ Keypad (vodafone) (item 120106787962 end time Apr-12-07 19:30:25 PDT)

How difficult is it to transplant the rear speakerphone onto a new backplate? It looks like the chrome trimm + grill are also missing on the ebay kit.

Thanks in advance!

I didn't find it too hard. Takes some nerve wracking cracking noises, but it was fairly simple to extract.

is it possible to put a 8700c into a 8700g housing? I mean i don't see much difference cosmetically except for the buttons and the screen. Would the hardware fit perfectly inside the 8700g housing?

Question click wheel stiff

Hi
I have a new 8700v (my first BB) and Im not sure if its just me, but it seems very heavy to press the click wheel in.

I thought it would be light to click (ie press in to use the button function)

is there any way of lightening the click.?

I find myself using keyboard shortcuts as much as possible to avoid it.

Often the clicking IN causes me to roll the wheel slighlty and change the option Im trying to click.

If I took it apart can I do something? lubricate it with vaseline or light oil? is it faulty?

any advice appreciated
Cheers
Karim

Default Case

I picked up a silver case that had the Tmobile logo to replace my blue-purple 8700C case.. It didn't not fit.. First, the keyboard that was included was real crappy and did not fit snug, the MIC transplanted would not make contact with the board, and the cover on the speakerphone would not fit the 8700 Tmobile case.

Does anyone know which cases will fit the 8700C guts?

I have a 8700c with scars and want to replace the housing with 8700g look and feel...what I found here: cnn.cn/shop/blackberry-8700g-c-200_208.html and it seems to have everything you mentioned, but it only has the speaker cover, not the speaker itself. The faceplate includes the lens. Would this be sufficient if I want to replace all exterior housing with these pieces? Please advise. If not, I also found the ebay store you recommended: stores.ebay.com/gsm4world and here is the link for all items related to 8700g: search.stores.ebay.com/gsm4world_8700g_W0QQfciZQ2d1QQfclZ3QQfsnZgsm4world QQfsooZ1QQfsopZ1QQfsubZ0QQsaselZ56686240QQsofpZ0

Can you help us list the pieces that we need to order in order to replace the old 8700c to a new complete 8700g housing? Thanks a lot...a little bit confused by all these pieces...thanks...

Pls - Anyone replaced 8700c housing with a new 8700g housing please advise if this is doable...thanks...

Thanks a lot...I checked out the site....which is great....

What I want to do is to replace my current old 8700c housing with a new 8700g housing. I noticed that Delmarco mentioned there could be potential problems with speakers and so on...when you did yours, did you have any specific problems? Thx.

well with mine when i did the switch to the vodaphone housing i had no issues just make sure what ever housing you get make sure it comes with the speaker thats importent because the housing on the 8700c is really hard to take off

I purchased an unbranded 8700 housing for my 8700c, along with a new keyboard, and everything fit just fine. You shouldn't have any problems when transferring everything over. The internals are all the same.

not to knock your post but you may have scared some people off about the speakerphone and ear piece but first off, i like to thank you for the write up because it helped me out alot! so i knew what to do and how to do before even touching the new housing i got off ebay.

i bought a new 8700g housing off ebay and i was a little upset it didnt come with the speakerphone or ear piece preinstalled. using my superior mechanical/electrical knowledge (j/k) took a chance to swap the pieces even though it was recommended not to but this thread. well anyway it worked and i have some tips for those who are in the same situation and i encourage you to go forward like it did. ill be damn if i didnt get to use my fresh rear housing plate!

the ear piece; its true that its foamed glued. but its not necessary. so if your new housing doesnt have this piece you can transfer it. it may not be OEM quality due to the foam glue but you can just put it up there and it will be secure when the phone is fully assembled. the circuit board presses agianst it and makes a connection allowing it to function but also firmly keeps it in place.

speakerphone, speakerphone mesh wire and trim- the speakphone is held in by a very thin double sided tape with no foam. so if your VERY CAREFULL and paicent you can pry this piece off. doesnt matter if it doesnt keep the double sided tape. b/c this has 2 notches on the circle its placed it to keep it from rotation and losing connection. and also the 2 prongs that reach out for a connection will keep it in place.

the mesh wire and trim are glue on and can be transfered if you are lucky enough. it can be removed by pressing the 2 clips in that are under the speakphone. it can off easiler enough for me. maybe if you head it with a hair dryer it will be easier to come off. all you need is a little glue so it wont come off when you take the batter door off. the door is the thing that keeps it secure.

i have no idea about the plastic screen. mine can with one. but i hope that helps anyone that has the same problem as me. feel free to email me w/any questions. [email address]

I am really happy with the new look! Thanks for the info!!

The 8707v from Vodafone (SmarTone for Hong Kong users) users a stupid, custom housing with a wider bottom. It will NOT fit in the OEM hardshell holsters. The 8707v comes with a lousy OEM leather case with a flap. I used the stupid OEM leather case for 10 months and HATED it! Even though the case has a metal plate to shut off the 8707v, it would often dial out while still in the holster. Very embarrassing. The leather case also collapses when sitting down, so re-inserting the 8707v sometimes takes two hands. I finally pulled the guts out of the 8707v and put it into a Cingular 8700c housing. Now the unit fits in the OEM hardshell holster. MUCH better. Bottom line, avoid the 8707v housing. Use the 8700c (Cingular) or 8707g (T-Mobile) housing.
