Hmmm. From what I have read on the Forums the Uncaught Exception: java.lang.ClassCastException error is usually associated with an application installed. What type of BT connection are you having prolems with (Headset, Keyboard, Puck, etc)? Does this error happen only when BT is enabled?

Unhappy Same Problem

I have exactly the same error "java.lang.ClassCastException" when connecting to the Bluetooth in a BMW. I have only had my 8800 for a few days and it was working great. It actually worked much better than any of my previous phones.

I changed the Bluetooth name on my 8800 and the problem then occured. I assumed that the name change had caused it so i changed it back but still the same error occured. I have since tried Un-pairing and re-pairing several times but the error appears a few seconds after connection.

Any ideas cause this is driving me MENTAL

Cheers in advance

Pedro

Default Got the answer :)

I think i have the answer. I was viewing a similar issue elsewhere on this forum and cam across a suggestion.

I had set up some "Groups" in my address book on my 8800 and it was since then that the problem occured. i have just removed the address book groups re-paired it to my car and guess what.....? It works like a dream again complete with phonebook transfer

Happy days

When you say "Groups" you mean categories?

No, he meant groups. Groups are different than categories. Your 8700g has groups, too.

OK, I have an 8700g and my problems started when I upgraded to v4.2 OS. I also have groups on my address book, but it works OK after downgrading again to v4.1. I guess I'll have to try to upgrade again and remove the groups, to see if it's something related to groups on v4.2... Strange combination though...

Could the problem be fixed with removing the groups? I have the same problem with my 8100 and a Parrot CK3100.

Hi, I upgraded again (v4.2.1.96), removed the groups, and now it works... I guess it must have something to do with address book synchronization between the device and the Parrot CK3100 when groups are there in v4.2. Maybe prior to v4.2 it doesn't try to sync groups...

I'm so happy I can confirm that. After deleting my groups my Parrot is working again. Thanks a lot

Default Yep, it fixed mine, too.

On my Blackberry 8800, I was unable to get Bluetooth to work for more than an hour or so. Thereafter, everything Bluetooth was goofy: scans to pair would freeze, the blue light on the phone would still blink after I disabled Bluetooth, etc.

Fortunately, I was able to find this post, because I removed the group and it immediately worked. No other changes / downloads were needed.

I had added one group, my family members so I could broadcast messages to them all. I really like and use that feature; I hope there is a fix for this bug. I'm presuming it's RIM that needs to address this.

BTW, this forum needs to change it's search feature. If you try to search for "Java.lang.ClassCastException" it reports that this string is too long to search for! I was only able to find this using google's handy "site" search by doing a google search on:

Unhappy Uncaught Exception: java.lang.ClassCastException

I was so happy to see these posts. I have the same error: Uncaught Exception: java.lang.ClassCastException on my 8800 only I do not have bluetooth associated with the phone yet. I had just created groups in my address book and started getting the error. I'd like to try deleting my groups since this seems to have worked for everyone else only my phone is frozen on this error. I've even tried taking out the battery hoping the phone would reset.

Any idea?
