Default Visual Voicemail (Simulsays) + Opera Mini Beta 4

Please Login to Remove!

Month-long lurker's first post here BTW

I recently installed the Simulsays Visual Voicemail app on my T-Mo Pearl, running the (nearly) newest Roger's OS. Before Simulsays, Opera Mini Beta 4 worked flawlessly, yet afterwards I could not connect to any website and I got a "returned null exception" error. Running Network Setup in Opera yielded a "could not connect to the internet" message. Removing Simulsays alleviated the problem at once.

I have to say I really enjoyed the voicemail transcriptions and thought the product was excellent. However, for an extra $10 monthly I wasn't heartbroken to fix the Opera issue and remove the app in one fell swoop.

Has anyone else experienced this? Could it be that the APN settings for these two programs conflicted, as they both used wap.voicestream.com? Was anyone able to use both apps concurrently on a T-MO Pearl, and I'm just overlooking something?

I'm having the exact same problem... both Opera 4 beta and Opera 3.1 stopped working.
It is strange, since most of the apps that need internet access uses the same APN.
I'm taking it off for now.

Weird. I'm using both SimulSays and Opera Mini 4 Beta and having no problems with either program. In fact, I've used Opera Mini 4 Beta to log into the SimulScribe website to delete messages.

I have a Pearl on T-Mobile running 4.2.0.64. Could the problem somehow be in the Rogers OS you're using? Seems unlikely, but who knows...

Maybe see what happens if you uninstall Opera, install SimulSays, and then reinstall Opera?

baumer and faaltoo - are you on BIS or BES?

4n6doc, are you on BES? I'm on a BES, and I can use both with no problem. Maybe it has to do with the manner in which the simulsays app connects.

Default Another option and it is currently free

I have been using CallWave (CallWave: Text is the New Voicemail) for about 2 months and they just added what they are calling Vtxt which is the gist of the voicemail and it is in beta. It is close to the gist of the voicemail about 50% of the time but mixes words up but it is free and the voicemail is free as well and will email you the .wav file on top of everything so you don't need cell coverage to listen to voicemails. You might check it out and give it a shot before you pay for this service.

I installed SimulSays today and I'm loving it on the BB. One of the best apps I've downloaded yet although CallWave looks very good as well. Might give that one a try too.

I ran in to the same thing... Although with me, it eventually creeped and broke other programs that relied on the APN settings too... Took me over a day to figure out but Opera was broken and so was Google Maps... Finally started uninstalling everything one by one and when I uninstalled the Simulsays app everything came back up.... I'm kinda sad though cause I really liked to program....

Ok I sent an email to SimulSays support and here is the response...

We are working to correct this issue as we speak. It will likely be
done in a future version so please check back in a few weeks and see
if a new version has been released. SimulSays [Beta] - www.SimulSays.com

likely to be done in a few weeks!!!!
That does not sound very good to me

what do you guys say?

I'm not even sure I know what "this issue" is! It seems like you and I have identical setups (8100 on BIS via T-Mobile), yet I can use both programs and you can't.

Have you checked to make sure you are using the most recent version? in the SimulSays application, click "About SimulSays" and make sure you are running version 1.21.0004

If you're not, go to mobile.simulsays.com on your BB browser and download the application. It will automatically replace the version currently on your BB.

Update:
No dice...
I went back to 4.2.0.64 and still get the same results.
I've uninstalled SimulSays for now till they fix the issue (which they have acknowledged by the way).

I am very surprised though that only a few of us have experienced this issue.

4n6doc what APN setting do you use?

bbweather and beyond411 still dont work, but as far as i know it could be because of the upgrade to 4.2.1.101 :(

Default conflict (maybe)

I am having the same problem, when I uninstalled Simulscribe, I was able to run Opera beta 4. When I reinstalled simulscribe, OPera would not work again.

I guess they don't like each other. I cannot figure this one out.

BTW- I am running 4.2.1.96
