Default BES 5 Upgrade - is a seperate Administration server required

Please Login to Remove!

Hi,

We are planning to upgrade to BES 5 very shortly and I'm looking for some sensible hardware requirements - I've looked at the Blackberry pdf however it's system suggestions seem a little under done.

We have 1000 users running on BES 4 on a single server. When we upgrade to 5 I imagine it would be senisble to have a seperate admin server and attachment server - however I cannot find any documented or solid arguments for this.

Could someone please help me out? many thanks

Even with a 1000 users I would be tempted to put it on one server with decent hardware. Then have a standby instance with both connected to an SQL cluster.

do you have any intention to grow much more?

I would absolutely suggest a separate server to host the BlackBerry Administration Service since it is such a huge resource hog. I don't typically allow for my customers to exceed ~200 users before separating the BAS. Even in cases with servers hosting less than 200 users, customers have experienced extreme slowness and pegged CPU.
