Attachment Service Dissapeared - can't open anything

I've seen many threads on this but haven't found an answer yet. A week ago attachments stopped opening. From Sprint, told to download new OS (now have 5.0.0.654) onto phone, downloaded onto PC, downloaded new Desktop Software 6.0. I have BES through work but the admins tell me it is a Sprint/BB issue not BES related.
All Word, Excel etc are fine viewing in Docs to Go but no lucj for PDF, WAV's etc.
I can see the 3 Attachment Service modules (e.g., net_rim_bb_docview) but no attachment service application is there. I tried plugging into Desktop Software Applications but the attachment service isnt an option to load.
Any help is appreciated.
