Default unlock code for free

Please Login to Remove!

Why do phone companies insist on locking their phones?!
I have a Vodafone Blackberry I bought on ebay locked to Vodafone.
Is there anyway to unlock it? I know in the past I have found free codes online.
As I already have a Vodafone pay as you go sim, they may give me the code so I can use their network but the phone's off ebay so it's not mine originally.

You can try contacting Vodaphone for a code. Sometimes carriers will provide them. Otherwise we recommend Horizon Wireless who provides outstanding service.

They lock their phones so you can only use them on their network. Captive audience. But they give you the phone at a discount (or free), so it's a trade-off.

With GSM you always have the option of paying full retail for an unlocked phone. You can use an unlocked phone on any GSM carrier.

Contact your service provider, ask for an unlock code. The service rep will then ask you for your IMEI address (you can find this by typing *#06# on the home screen of your phone). They will then contact blackberry who will give them the unlock code, and then email it to you. then follow these instructions:

How To Unlock Your BlackBerry For Free

Once you have your unlock code, the process should only take about 5 minutes to unlock your phone. I have done this in the past a few times and it works flawlessly, and its free.

Not all providers follow this practice though, some will not give unlock codes, and I hear some charge for them.

I have unlocked both my Storm and Storm2 with a 5 minute call to Verizon.
Was easy, and makes the phone more valuable when it comes time to upgrade .

I don't think in the UK they can legally charge for this service due to competition law. They can block them, but if you ask they must unlock for free.

Can anyone help me to get the unlock code for my blackberry 8120? I have my IMEI, the network, and the instruction to unlock it. I'll appreciate anyone's help.

Maybe it's because Spring Break is starting. Different weeks in different locations so we'll probably have to put up with it for most of March. Then we should be good until the kiddies get out for summer break.
