Default Strange issue with left convenience key and call log - 8310

Please Login to Remove!

I have my left convenience key (the one with bumps on it) set to lock my phone.

Now this only happens about 1 out of every 10 times and I cannot consistantly replicate the issue.

I will be in an application or on a call, close the app or hang up, then press the left key to lock my phone and the call log will pop.

It is completely random and again, I cannot seem to replicate it.

I'm also using the very of 4.5 from T-Mobile UK.

Anything, please!

Wirelessly posted

I too have had this to happen with my 8310.I agree with how frequent it happens. Of late, it has not done so.

I also have this issue. I have the left button set to calculator. If I just tap the button I get the calc. If I hold it a millisecond longer, I get the call log.

Mine is set to PROFILES... and whether I tap it or hold it, I get the PROFILES applet.

I just upgraded to the latest 8310 4.5 software and I thought the issue was gone for a few days, but just this morning it popped up again. 4 times consecutively in a row.

This is on a RED AT&T 8310, by the way.

My guess would be that since that key is so close to the green "dial" key, pressing it will sometimes inadvertently move something inside the device, simulating a press of the green key...

negative

I found a way to replicate it. if i hold the left key down for 1 second or longer, they call log comes up everytime. If i press it quickly (> 1sec) it locks the phone as intended.

Also, I have found that when in BBmsngr and I press the Dial key (green) it will ask me if i want to call the contact then immediate bring up the call log.

I cannot seem to get rid of the damn call log!!

This is on a RED AT&T 8310.

This is completely normal. It's just a double use for the same button. Nothing to worry about. Just make your button pushes quick and you'll be fine. I can't say I understand the reasoning given the green call button does the same thing, but every BB8310 I've touched does it.

Aww, lame. I wish there was some way to disable it because it is very annoying. I would hate to accidently pocket dial someone while I'm talking about them because my phone didn't lock... :X

Is it? Mine doesn't do anything if I press that convenience key longer than just a single press.

I'm the same as takeshi. Press single time performs my convience action. While press and hold does nothing.

I wish I could call RIM over the issue, but I know that won't get anywhere... Plus, I have T-Mobile with an unlock AT&T phone. Just need to either wait for the Bold or get the Android possibly.

I have no issues either, when I push it quickly or hold it I get the same function that is set to that button. I am running the latest 4.5 108 release on my 8320, will keep an eye out for this to see if it starts. I wonder if it has anything to do with what is chosen for the shortcut on that button? I have it set to default (voice dialing) since I use it all the time in the car all day. Will change it to lock and see if that does anything.
