Default 4.5 upgrade and email

Please Login to Remove!

My tech person is out for a week and I got the upgrade message on my AT&T 8830. I attempted the upgrade but stopped when it said I would have to reload my email settings after loading the upgrade and rebooting. Is this correct?

Yes (in most cases). What its saying is that after an OS upgrade, you will need to re-activate your account (if on a BES from your company) and if you are on a BIS service (from your phone provider) then you have to resend the service books. I normally do this after I pull the battery after the upgrade.

After an OS upgrade my BB has been restored back to normal with all my old info (with only 1 exception where I had to manually restore the backup.)

The most you will have to do after an OS upgrade is resend your service books, from either you BIS account or from the email setup icon.

I also received a message from Blackberry (which I thought was brilliant) telling me I wasnt receiving my hotmail emails because i had to verify my password. Hotmail was pushed to my device flawlessly for the previous 5 months, but I logged into my BIS page - saw the notification next to my hotmail account, reconfirmed my password in the email account settings and all was right again with my email reaching me!

I just did the 4.5 upgrade. I also sent the service books. The only 2 emails I have received are from the Blackberry Activation server letting me know that I have successfully set up my .msn email account and that I should start receiving messages in 20 minutes. 2 hours later no messages. As a backup I went to hotmail.com and I'm now getting a message "The Microsoft service that your are attempting to access is not supported by the mobile browser you are using. The minimum browser is full WAP 2.0 support." This USED to work before the upgrade.

I also just set up my gmail account, registered it, got the acknowledgment but no email from that account either.
