Default OS: 8700 4.5.0.134/4.5.0.99 (Multilanguage)

Please Login to Remove!

BlackBerry Handheld Software v4.5.0.134 (Multilanguage)

This is for any carrier's 8700 model, not the 8703, not the 8707
From Vodafone Slovenia. Contains English and other languages.

Package Version: 4.5.0.134
Consisting of:
  • Applications: 4.5.0.99
  • Software Platform: 2.7.0.84
  • File name: 8700M_PBr4.5.0_rel134_PL2.7.0.84_A4.5.0.99.ex e
  • File size: 65 MB
Note: The Software Platform and Applications version numbers can be found under Options-About screen on the handheld.

Download the OS here: http://www.simobil.si/_static/upload..._A4.5.0.99.exe

Instructions for installing on ANY 8700 (regardless of carrier)

1. Download the above OS file to the PC then install it to the PC by running (double clicking) the file you downloaded.
2. Go to c:\program files\common files\research in motion\apploader and delete the file named "vendor.xml."
3. Plug in BB and double click on "Loader.exe." It's located in the same place as the above vendor.xml file.

The process takes about 45 minutes to an hour depending on how much data you have to backup and restore during the process. Once it's done loading the new OS it will reboot (it may do this twice during the entire process.) You will see a white screen with an hourglass for up to 20 minutes at a time while the DM says "waiting for initialization."
If, for some reason, you end up with a white screen with small icons and the number 507, simply connect to the PC again and run Loader.exe again and it should load the OS to the device.

Try again.

The carriers will pop these OS links up and sometimes remove them. It is working just now.

Any idea what the differences are between this and the previous release? I can never track the revision changes!

There do not appear to be any functional changes with this release. There are several vendor specific icons that will need to be cleaned up if you are in the habit of modifying your blackberry.alx file. There are links to "Customer Center", "Customer Manager", "My Monternet", "Service Hotline", "Xinji Service Guide", and a Carrier Specific "Settings" icon that apply to the carrier that released this version.

This release includes Danish, Norwegian, and Swedish Language Support. As well as English UK, French, Italian, German, Spanish, Brazilian Portuguese, European Portuguese, Hungarian, Catalan, Czech, Dutch, Polish, Russian, Arabic, Hebrew, and Turkish Language and Input Support. Also included is Greek input support. Everything else appears to be about the same.

I'm not sure if this is the right place to post this but I just upgraded my T-Mo 8700g with this 4.5.0.99 and some apps went missing (yes, I backed up data first). So I reinatelled Facebook and Google Talk, but there is NO way I can get Google Maps back on there...anyone know how? If you think I should move this post, please let me know...I just thought I would post here since it was related to upgrading my OS. Thanks!

Welcome to the BBforums.

Scroll back up to the top of this page ^^. This thread and the download above is for the 8700 no matter which letter falls after the 8700.

good luck. Read and follow the instructions exactly as posted, and you will be fine. The only thing I would add to the instructions is to do a complete backup of your existing device before you start (I always sync to Outlook as well).
