Is it necessary to remove a user from BES when they are switching devices.

eg. 7100 series to 8700 series etc.

No. Easiest way, I think, is to start Desktop Manager and it will ask if you want to switch BlackBerrys.

I would back up the old BB before switching so a restore will bring everything (except OTA loaded apps) cleanly.

If your not running DeskTop Manager - the same thing can be accomplished by connect the device directly to your BES server via the USB cable.

1) Open the User account that you are going to switch.
2) Connect the BB to the BES server with USB cable
3) It will ask if this NEW PIN will be the one to use for this User - CLICK OK

Boom your done!

or with BES 4.0, just send them a new activation password and let them do it wirelessly.
