After a soft reset, when i enter the media player for the first time, i see a note at the bottom screen saying it's searching for music (must be building a tags database, new message that didn't show on 4.2).
When it's done (very long btw), i go into the music section, and there i don't find every albums i have on my memory card..
A big pain in the ass.
Is someone else having this problem? I assume it shows up only when you have a lot of music in your card (i have about 4 GB).
I also noticed that after each soft reset, available albums in the music section are not the same, it seems completely random.
Is there a way to officialy report this bug?

I find it wierd that everyone has a different problem. if all the devices are the same...8310... how does each person have a different bug?
Just dont understand how that is possible......can anybody shed some light?

Well I tried downgrading back to 4.2.2 to see if I could get my regular camera working again (since it was working right before I tried upgrading to 4.5.0.37) and after downgrading it still doesnt work - when I click on camera i just get a black screen, clicking on any key or button does absolutely nothing now, and requires a battery pull to start over. Any ideas or help would really be appreciated.

I had 4.5.0.18 earlier and now use 4.5.0.42.
In both, the Media Player is superb! I've had zero issues and I have a nearly full 8GB Sandisk microSDHC. Scanning is pretty quick too... as is searching for a song/artist/album too.
The problems you describe were true with a 4gb card on 4.2.2.184 as well as a 6gb card on any 4.3.x.x when I tried a friend's 8130.
Strange... which OS version do you have? All of my songs are MP3s and are organized in the Blackberry/Music folder as follows:
Artist name/Album Name/songs 1-n ...
/BD

I can also call in to my voicemail, just as I would have before. Even when the voicemail issue is fixed, I'm sticking with this service.

John - Thanks for the pointer.
This is a nice service, works very well. Right now it is "free" but it is likely to see either a charge or advertising I would guess in the near future...

Try using JL_CMDR to wipe your device, then reload 4.2.2

I have installed it, and i feel my blackberry snappy, it faster web browsing. I dont know if its because im on Vodafone Spain. But since 4.5.0.18, i feel my device responsive. I use google sync, and now works very well. No more slow network connections of falling out of GPRS to gprs when in intensive use.

The card is a 8GB Sandisk (not bought on ebay, not a fake).
The only difference i see is my music collection is in AAC HEv2 (M4A files).
I use the OS from this post (4.5.0.52).
Scanning after a soft reset is very very long like 5 minutes.
What i don't understand is that it doesn't skip the same albums for each scan!
I can see all the albums (same folders structure than you) in the explorer view though, and can listen to them.
But not from the main music section, and that's really annoying, critical for me, because i bought a blackberry (and this one particularly) to use a music player.

I feel for you, man. This was soooo annoying prior to 4.5.0.x ... The only real difference I see is the AAC files. Could be the issue (not a lot of folks are using those on BBs) but the symtoms sound just too identical to the pre-4.5 releases for comfort, though?

Did a clean wipe, Installed it with modfications, thanks to john clark and everything seems to be working just fine. The html browsing and video camera are wonderful!!! As someone mentioned before, the software does feel more responsive.

I would compare the tags for your missing songs with the tags of the ones that are there. Bad tags will cause them to not show up.

With the chance of sounding ignorant, and please forgive me if I am wrong, but is it possible that you meant "John Clark"?

Tags are good.
And from one soft reset to another (and from one music scan to another), songs retrieved in the database are not the same!!
Really wierd, like if blackberry scanned randomly, and didn't go to the end of the scan.
Scan takes more than 5 minutes. Is it normal?
I'll trty to recompress my flac collection to mp3 instead of aac ( :( ) and see what happens.
bikedogrun, what caracteristics are your mp3s? (bitrate type and rate).

5 minute scans are "NOT" normal, mine (w/ 7.4GB of MP3s) are 1-2 minutes maximum.
My MP3s are 128kbps @ 44.1 khz / stereo (2 channels).
Good luck with this...
