Default Blackberry vs PDA (Work Email)

Please Login to Remove!

Hello - I'm trying to setup my work email account on my Blackberry and I can't figure out why it won't work. Many people have set it up on their iPhones so I'm assuming it should work on the BB.

Here are the steps I followed.
1-Created BIS account
2- Downloaded 2 certificates that were provided on the company site
3-Went to add email
- entered email address and password
-entered details (server and username)

I got a message saying that email account could not be setup and to try again.

Am I doing something wrong?

Edit: in title I say PDA (this includes the iPhone)

Many things can effect this..

I don't know why you would a digital certificate in the first place.

Does you company allow you to sign into your email from home? The BlackBerry accesses your email via normal POP/IMAP protocols, if your company does not allow external access to sign into your email account then the BB will not be able to access it either..

Does you company have a BES/BlackBerry Enterprise Server? (That would be easier for you.)

They could be using certs for authentication instead of / in conjunction with a password. MS ActiveSync supports that. If they are that tight on security using a BES would probably be the only thing within the company policy.

Good point.. I would assume though if they are being that secure they would just implement a BES, can't beat that security.

Unless price is part of the equation.
