Default T-Mobile int'l data roaming rates

Please Login to Remove!

Ok folks I'm off to GER next summer for 2-3 weeks and will have my BB in hand (hopefully the TMO version of the 8700).

I did a check of TMO's website looking for their int'l rates. I see voice is 99c/mn. and text messages are 35c/ea (outgoing) but I see nothing on email data rates.

I really don't feel like being on the phone wating for TMO CS for 30 mns. Does anyone have any feedback on this.

TIA!

My experience while living in the UK with T-Mobile USA for 3 months is that I have never been slammed with any data roaming charges. I didn't have my BlackBerry at the time but was using my Laptop every day via my Sony Ericsson P900. I think it might depend on how long you have had international Roaming on your account. I had it since the day it was VoiceStream and they didn't offer data roaming so I could just be lucky about not getting the charges.

My best tip would be to call Customer Care and as their data people about the BlackBerry roaming. Might not cost as much as regular data roaming.

TMO offers BB International BB E-mail for an additional $19.99.
That is in addition to your US BB plan.
If you already have a BB, it is easier to go to their website and add the option to your plan. Customer Service does not have a clue about the add-on.

THX so much. I just hung up with a TMO CS rep and she relayed the same info to me.

She was informed and pleasant to boot!!

#1, totally understand that if you don't do some setup work in the US *before* you leave, if anyone calls you while you're overseas and you DON'T answer the call, you're going to get stuck with TWO international calls ... 1 for when they called your phone, and 2 for when you phone forwarded the call back to your voicemail in the US. This can be a HUGE ($$$) issue if you're expecting no voice roaming charges because you didn't answer the phone.

Read the "What should I expect in my T-Mobile bill?" part of this webpage:
http://www.t-mobile.com/international/faq.asp

This page says data roaming rates are "$0.015 cents per KB in all other countries"
http://www.t-mobile.com/international/roamMaps.asp?c=64

(Sorry, didn't see you had already called CS!)

Best advice is this. Before you leave the USA or even when you are there, set your phone to forward straight to VM. You will then get notified if you have a message and can decide to call it on your own to check the message. Saves a lot of money. Incoming SMS is free. Just the cost of sending them.

Correct if you don't have a message bucket. If you have a bucket, they are free

.99 cents That kills me Tmobile charges high cost for voice while overseas, especially in you are in Germany. I have a pre paid Sim that I use while Im there every year, not by choice, but because Nextel phones are shite.

also do they charge for incoming while you are there? I know while I lived there, you dont get charged incoming.

You will get charges for incoming unless you are using a SIM card from a European company. When I lived in the UK, I used my Orange UK account more than my TMO one.
