I believe it was explained a while back that this upgrade page only works on your phone *if* there's an official 4.5 update available from your carrier.

I downloaded the 4.5 os and ran the instalation on the desktop.
I then deleted the vendor'xml file.
Then I permanently deleted it from the recycle bin.
I pluged in the handheld and started the desktop manager.
Nothing happened?

My usb is pluged into the back of the computer. I have tried it in different ports. The desktop manager recognizes the device, but it does not start the update.
Try and go the Application Loader (manager... installer... not at my laptop right now so I can't tell you exactly what it is called but it should be the last item on the left hand side of the screen). When you launch this it will analyze your device and should allow you to do the upgrade. I re-upgraded to .77 after having to go back down a couple of weeks ago and mine didn't automatically start either but as soon as I did this, it began the upgrade.

Hope that this helps.

I was on 4.5.0.5something and tryin to load this new software. I have never had an issue before and now I cant get it to work at all. I have downloaded the new 4.6 Desktop Manager and downloaded the software packet for 4.5.0.101. I uninstalled everything I had related to Blackberry and installed the 4.6 Desktop Manager everything went fine. I then installed the 4.5.0.101 software, no issues. I deleted the vendor.xml file and even removed it from the bin to be sure. I rebooted the computer and then plugged in the 8330Waited for it to fully connect and then opened Desktop Manager. The device synced and then nothing. It will not ask or tell me to upgrade. What am I doing wrong.

I have since had the device replaced going back to the stock OS at 4.3.0.127 and tried it all over again with a fresh brand new phone and still nothing.

PLEASE someone try and throw an idea out there, anything would help.
See my post back to treyc82 (above) and see if that helps.

This is not a true statement. This upgrade will work on any 8330 from any carrier.

Default What Version

When you use the automatic update feature on the Blackberry website, what version of 4.5 does it put on your phone?

That's great, thanks John. When I tried it out a couple of weeks back, I tried upgrading from 4.3. It gave me the message that I had the latest version. If it works now, upgrading all carriers to 4.5, what version of 4.5 will it upgrade you to?

In order for your BES e-mails have the HTML feature, that would need to be enabled on the BES. Check with your admin on that one.

As for the old e-mails, try deleting the service book for them and that should work.

I think I understand what makes that happen with some users and not others; I am with Alltel and installed the upgrade by following the instructions in post #1 of this thread, finally. No problem or hitch after discovering my mistake:

I did start off wrong myself.. by downloading the new upgrade and then trying to use the desktop software *before* installing the downloaded file. This caused me to not have a vendor.xml file to delete. .. lol .. so, I posted here and embarrassed myself, but just installed the new file, then deleted the vendor file then everything went honky-dorey.

Works great, seems faster too.

I wonder if maybe there's a problem with doing the instructions in the wrong order, as I did.

I am basically the BES admin..we only have a handful of users...I havent found any HTML settings.
I thought I read on this forum somewhere that you had to install something on the BES to get it to work??

EDIT...Need SP6...will get that installed asap...

You need BES 4.1.6 in order to be able to enable HTML.

Default Messenger wanting to update PIN after upgrade.

The problem was remedied by placing the 4.3 version of BB Messenger into the 4.5 directory, and it's been running smoothly since.

How did you roll the software back to 4.3? I am having the same problem every time I restart my phone.

Default Install Issue Cont.

I have been reading through all the responses and thank you all for the suggestions but I have tried all these suggestion. This is the process I have used; tell me where it looks like I have gone off cue:

1) Uninstalled all Blackberry Software then restarted the computer
2) Downloaded the Desktop manager 4.6 and 4.5.0.101 Software
3) Installed the Desktop Manager and rebooted
4) Installed the 4.5.0.101 Software then Rebooted
5) Deleted Vendor.xml file
6) Plugged in the 8330
7) Started the Desktop manager
8) Desktop Manager recognizes the 8330 then starts the sync
9) Then NOTHING
10) Tried to check for updates manually and it shows as "No Updates available"

I have also tired to install the Software 1st and then the Desktop Manager and also tried using the 4.5 Desktop Manager. I do not know what to do, I have never had this much trouble.

Ever since my software upgrade, when I answer a call (not using BT), the speakerphone activates for like 2 seconds then the call routes to the phone. VERY weird..
