Default Auto On/Off Oddity for Mondays

Please Login to Remove!

I have the current settings:

Weekday:
Turn On At: 8:00PM
Turn Off At: 4:30 AM
Weekend: Disabled

My expectation is that it turns on at 8:00 PM on Friday and then turns off at 4:30 AM on Monday.

What it is doing is turns on at 8:00 PM on Friday and turns off at 4:30 AM on Tuesday.

What can I do to resolve this? This is an off-hours on-call phone for my job, so I don't want it on between 4:30 AM and 8:00 PM on Weekdays.

I can see why it is doing it since your on-offs span days but fixing it is another story. I think I would try having week-end settings of turn on at 4:31 AM and turn off of 4:35 AM.

I should clarify what I want to happen..

I want it to turn off every weekday at 4:30 AM and on at 8:00 PM. I then want it to turn on at 8:00 PM Friday and stay on until 4:30 AM Monday.

So, that wouldn't work unfortunately.

Our operation hours are 5:00 AM to 8:00 PM M-F, so it needs to be on during all non-operating hours.

I know this is probably not the best solution, but couldn't you turn it on and off yourself when you need it to?

It's always a solution if nothing else works, though I get you want it to do it itself.

Well, of course I can turn it off and on my own - that's a bit of a silly solution.

The whole point is that I pass this around to my employees. There are employees that do not start until noon, but get woken up at 5:00 AM by an e-mail when the phone should be shut off.

Other smart phones I had in the past did this without a problem, I'm very frustrated that this blackberry will not do it properly. This is supposed to be a business friendly phone, but that's not very friendly.

The auto on/off function does not span days. Mon-Fri is the weekday schedule and Sat-Sun the weekend schedule; Per Each Day.

My point exactly.

So why is it not turning on at 4:30 AM on Monday when I have it set to turn on at 4:30 AM on weekdays?

I believe you mean turn off, and the answer is the spanning of days. I can appreciate your frustration. I wonder if setting something on the weekend would get it to activate properly on Monday?

Yeah, I do mean turn off.

When I need it on all-day, I'm not sure I see How it could... in theory maybe:

Weekday:
Turn On At: 8:00PM
Turn Off At: 4:30 AM

Weekend:
Turn On At: 12:02 AM
Turn Off At: 12:01 AM

???

I think you should stay away from midnight...note that your time span is:
Monday-Friday on at 2000, then off on Tuesday-Saturday at 0430.

The B'berry would get confused because on Saturday at 0002 you want it on and off on Sunday at 0001.

Go with what the first suggestion that was for Weekends of 0435 on and 0434 off.

On Saturday, the Friday schedule will finish at 0430. The Saturday schedule will turn on at 0435, until Sunday 0434.

Sunday schedule will will turn on at 0435, then off on Monday at 0434.

You will lose 1 minute on both days, but at least there will be coverage for 23:59 hours.

If that works, I would then try to find out what is the statistically least likely time for a call to arrive, and target that 1 minute break for sometime during that window.

That time will be perfectly fine for our needs. 10pm - 5:30am or so are generally slow times.
