Default What Repair parts

My 8830 World Edition has taken quite a few bumps lately and needs some repairs. It was recently dropped while charging so that the charge plug seems broken and won't show the phone as being plugged in (getting around this with my spare batteries and external charger). After this it was dropped in a dog bowl causing the microphone to become extremely quite and the trackball to not "select". When talking on the phone people generally say they can't hear me well anymore, that I'm very quite, and that I cut out frequently. The trackball still moves teh cursor but when pressed will not cause the berry to select except ocastionally when pressed extremely hard. Ohh and also my external mic port is broken.

I'm thinking that if I grab a replacement keyboard PCB like the one from truesupplier.com.
Then I would have the speaker working again and if I'm lucky the trackball. I don't really care about the other broken bits. How hard would this be to replace? My reason for replacement rather than new phone is to save money/not have to go through setting up another phone.

Thoughts?

Sounds to me like it would be cheaper and probably better to just get a new device - or buy a used 8820. There could be much more damage done to the device and you will probably need to reinstall the OS anyway. Doesn't save you anything and could cost more in the long run, especially if it dies.

does the keyboard PCB included the processor and such? I figured it just had the mic and keyboard bits. Do you know where I can find instructions on replacing this part in teh first place? I know if its a big job then I might as well just grab a "new" one off ebay.

Sounds like motherboard part is broken as charger is part of it. Cheaper to get new phone at this point I think. Or in least used one (with some risks).

Before you buy a used one, check our FAQ for an article on buying a BB from eBay - the info applies to buying any used BB from any source.

I don't really care about getting the charger working again though. My big thing would be to get the microphone working. If fixing that also fixes the trackball selecting issue all the better. I see the keyboard PCB running about 20 + shipping and an ebay phone being about 30. Mostly I just don't want to get into reupdating messenger contacts, emails, apps, and dealing with the sprint people to change my phone out.
