Default BT Tethering Pearl on Leopard

Please Login to Remove!

I'm having issues Tethering my MacBook to my Blackberry Pearl. It's new from T-Mobile USA, running Firmware 4.2.1.107. I'm using the updated scripts for Leopard from Fibble.org with the following info:

APN: wap.voicestream.com
Username: guest
Password: guest

Verbose logging is on. I've pulled the battery immediately before attempting to connect. I connect and it appears to function (I've seen it work for about a second - loading in just the text of Google.com once), only to remain "connected" while being unable to perform any internet function.

Here's my log:

I'd appreciate any advice you'd have. I understand the latest version of the firmware for Pearls seems to have issues maintaining a tethered connection with Leopard, although I'm curious to hear if there are other T-Mobile USA customers working with an older firmware. It seems T-Mobile encourages this - certainly this would be a big feature of my phone (and was one of the reasons I bought it), so I'm willing to work a bit to get this functioning - even if I need to downgrade. I'd appreciate any user experience. Thanks.

Unfortunately, you'll have to downgrade in order to tether reliably. T-Mobile's latest release has a known bluetooth issue that results in the phone requiring a hard reset in order to tether a second time after successfully tethering once.

Thanks for the advice, ggoodale. I assume you're the author of Fibble - thanks for your work! If I get this working I'd love to send a donation your way.

What's the latest version of the firmware that reliably tethers with the mac? Will I be losing any significant features by downgrading? For that matter, how on earth *do* I downgrade? I could always boot into Windows on my Intel mac to do what I assume is a non-mac supported task.

Thanks again.
