Exclamation Back, Forward, Up & Down

Please Login to Remove!

After owning a HTC Kiaser for nearly 18 months I tend to miss things about it. Esp, the Up, Down, Left & right on the QWERTY keyboard!!!

Anyway got my Blackberry Storm yesterday, am pleased with it. However there is something that I think is missing, or unless I am missing it myself?

If I want to type a SMS, and want to go back to a word, or piece of text... is there are way I can do this by tapping "a back arrow" or if I wanted to move forward to a different word in the SMS, can I do this by tapping "a forward key"

Because when I tap the screen with my finger, I can never get spot on to the word I want... and I don't see the option for a back or forward key.

Suggestions would be great!!!

I think tapping on the word is the only option, works for me ... I actually use the tip of my fingernail to do this (I have big fingers)

There have been many posts in other threads.

In short, place your finger on the screen some where in the text so you can see your cursor. Touch it, DON'T click it.

Hold your finger there. Depending on your Hover time preference, you will see the blue cursor change to a hollow black box, now slide your finger around the screen to relocate the box, lift your finger when you reach the correct location. Then do your editing.

Here is a YouTube I found that visually explains. Look for it 38 seconds in.

Also here is a CaptureIt screen from my own Storm.

This amuses me because this is in the setup part when you start up the phone for the first time. Shows how ignorant people are.

OK - that totally sucks. I know how to move the cursor around (thanks) - what I wanted to know was how to select a whole word (you know - "double click" style). Apparently you can - that video shows it - but in the video the guy selects a whole sentence - hardly very precise. I see how to do that now but it's hardly what you would call precise or accurate - just try selecting a 3-4 letter word that way and see if you dont get at least one whole other word. If that's my option, it's quicker to move the cursor to the end of a word i want to delete and just hit backspace a bunch of times (stupider, but easier).

As far as this being a "new device" goes - sure. Yeah. But it's not like selecting a whole word is a new idea - it's one of the more basic things you can do on a computer. Bad design if you ask me...

thanks for the help though!
