Hey there,

I have recently set a password policy on all our BB devices, which at the time, was set to 3 attempts, my I.T. Manager wanted me to change it, so the attempts would be at 10, BUT for some reason the BB's are still on 3 attempts even after I reassigned the IT Policy to 10 attempts. Is it because the reason it may be cached in the individual BB's? We did the normal thing of rebooting the Blackberry and took out the battery.

Any help would be appreciated.

IT policy changes normally apply within 20 minutes if the device is in coverage, so no need to restart the device or anything.

But the policy is only defining the maximum password attempts that can be used. From the help text:

"You can use this rule to LOWER the number of password attempts."

If you have set it to 3 attempts, two things will happen. The setting on your device will be set to "3" and it will be limited to 3 so a user can not set it higher manually.

If you then set it back to 10 in the policy, it will stay on 3 on the device, but the user can set it back to 10 on the device manually.
