Hi,

Where would be a good online source to buy a 8310 (price wise) for unit itself w/o contract? I know there are Amazon and other big ones, but most of them have contract to go with it.

I'm not sure how this will work in your location, but I purchsed an unlocked 8310 through Craigslist and have had no issues. Price was right and the transaction went smoothly, although I have heard horror stories from people and their experiences. Just be wise and if it doesn't feel right, don't go for it.

Does anyone know if I purchase the vodafone version from ebay uk, will the GPS and everything else works just like the ATT version? I'm afraid that the GPS locator will not work.

If you get a device from Europe, pay particular attention to the keyboard layout. Not all European countries use the same keyboard we do. GPS will work.

You also need to make sure it uses the US frequencies if you plan on using it here in the US. I know the 8707 is only GPRS capable in the US. Almost useless.

GPS should work no matter where you are as it is a worldwide network. The issue could be map coverage to get useful information, but I think BBMaps and GoogleMaps work in Europe.

Also check out the FAQ before buying a used BB. It is much different than buying a used cell phone. Will save you some headaches later on. Buying a BlackBerry off eBay - BlackBerryFAQ.com

Thanks for the great info. I've checked that the UK Vodafone 8310 has 850 band as well us same keyboard layout as the US.

Does any know if I purchase 8310 Vodafone off ebay, I should be able to unlock it with gsmphonesource or some kind with ease correct? Also, I don't think purchasing Vodafone version would be have crippled function? Meaning everything should work just as the ATT version?
