Default N00B to BB

Please Login to Remove!

Hello. I'm new here as well to BB. I have a couple questions.
1. I have loaded an excel file to my media card. Upon trying to open it, it states: "Unable to display file" Any reason why? I'd love to keep this excel spreadsheet viewable upon demand. Is there any other way to do so? Am I doing something wrong?
2. How do I get my Outlook Calendar on my laptop or the calendar on my BB to be in synch. In other words...is there a way for me to connect my BB to my laptop and my calendar info get loaded onto my laptop and visa versa? The same would go for contacts. I'd love to add email addy's to all my contacts on my laptop and load it into my BB.

Thanks for the help!

1. The BB doesn't do Word or Excel natively. You need an app like Docs-to-Go which is included in OS 4.5 or eOffice.

2. Did you read the user guide that came with the device? Or did you do a search? You need to install Desktop Manager and set it up to sync using the USB cable that also came with the device, with Outlook.

For the first the easiest way is email it to your BB or get the app docs to go

For your second question yes use DM and use the sync option and it will sync you BB to your comp

Thanks! I've been searching and reading over this forum to try to get familiar with issue's and to do's!

I have the 4.5 OS and doc's to go. I've transfered a word doc which is viewable on my BB. It's just the excel doc that isn't viewable.

I do need to read up on the sync ordeal. Honestly, I haven't read about it at all. My apologies if anyone feel's I've wasted their time! Not my intention....just thru that in there with the other question!

Register your Docs to Go and you will get the Excel function.

This forum is/will be one of you best sources for your answers. The Mods are some of the best I've seen on forums and they keep the flaming to a minimum.

Well...I managed to do a stupid thing. I went to a blackberry applications website and started to download Docs to go directly from the site to my BB. I then started to read the instructions on the site to load applications and it stated to load it thru the BB Desktop manager. So....I managed to stop the download directly to my BB and it left me message "error completing task" or something to the effect. So, upon going into my applications list, I noticed docs to go. I deleted it thinking It was apart of the download. I have the 4.5OS and after deleting the supposed download, I realized I deleted the original docs to go that came with the 4.5OS. I just got this Curve last Friday and came with the 4.5OS. Well, now I don't have that app on my BB, am not sure how to put it back on and don't know how to convert the downloaded file from the site from a RAR file to something workable to put into my BB.
haha...is there an "UNDO" feature on this thing

Have you done a backup of your BB since you got it?

The .rar file can be opened by an app called winrar if you google it you will find it. Its just like a zip file. Or you can just do the OTA download of office 2 go again. The third option is to reload docs 2 go from the 4.5 install. All is not lost

Yes, i did a backup.
If I restore the backup, will it replace all info and changes I've made...including email settings, etc?

It will revert you back to the backup all pictures added contacts, notes etc etc. I would reinstall the app from dm manager. Plug your phone into pc go to app manager and put a check mark back in docs 2 go it will reload the app back onto your bb without losing data

When I bought this phone, it had the app already on it. Are you saying to convert that RAR file and load it or is there somewhere else that app is located.
