Unhappy Activation emails stay in Inbox, "could not connect to Service Control Manager" error

Please Login to Remove!

Please help; my user's activation email is correctly received from blackberry.net but just sits in the inbox! At the same time there are BlackBerry Controller errors logged...

I have an Exchange 2007 and BES 4.1.4.12 Express installed on separate machines. I have followed all the permissions and setup guides to get almost everything working, and just have this one final problem that is driving me mad...

I have seen numerous posts by other people about this, but none of the fixes apply. The BESAdmin (called BlackBerry on my domain) has all the permissions at AD and Mailbox levels, and MAPI is correctly installed and functioning on the server. It is also a member of both local and Domain Admins, with explicit user rights added to logon locally and as a service.

Can you help?

Users that are are a part of privileged often have rights explicitly denied. the besadmin should NOT be in domain admins unless it is installed on a domain controller at which point you make other changes to compensate for this.

Check this for the errors: BlackBerry Controller cannot start Messaging Agent

A reboot might help but there is a registry key that will definitely help.

I can get you that reg key on Monday though.

1. Open the Registry Editor by clicking Start > Run. Type regedit and click OK.
2. Go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Servic es\NetBT\Parameters
3. Double-click SMBDeviceEnabled.
4. In the Value data field, enter a value of 1 (the default is 0), then click OK.

Note: If the SMBDeviceEnabled registry entry does not exist, create it as a new DWORD value.

Close the Registry Editor and restart the BlackBerry Enterprise Server.
