Default BB 8320 erasing messages by itself: help!

Please Login to Remove!

Hi guys,

Loving the 8320 bb phone. It has quirks compared to my old Nokia phone before but I enjoy using it.

My unit is about a month old and lately it has been having problems i cant understand.

At times, it just automatically deletes by itself my call logs at the same time most of my email messages and sms messages. I cant understand why it does that but its quite frustrating to loose those messages.

I had this incident happened twice already , a week apart from the first to the 2nd incident.

Help needed.

Tks.

thanks penguin, read it and make sense.
My question, is there a way for the messages, logs to be stored in my media card rather than the phone internal memory ?

Nope. Messages get stored only in internal device memory.

You should be storing pictures and ringtones (and all other multimedia) on the Media card. That's what it's designed for.

All due respect to the Penguin, these two Sticky Posts are a bit more comprehensive (and partly redundant to what you have read).

thanks guys, got more concerns: i now have 22165281 bytes file free. Is this already enough ?

Got another question:

I noticed that when i received email or text messages when my 8320 is inside the holster, when i pull out the phone out of the holster, the bb automatically opens the message. How do i disable the bb from opening the messages ? the reason why i dont want it to automatically open the messages is because some of the emails are spam and I emails that i dont recognize I want to delete them manually without it opening ? is this possible ?

is there a webpage that has some bb softwares available for downloading ?

You can't turn this feature off.
Wait longer before unholstering the device. About 30 seconds or so.

ok, ok, when phone is in holster, and phone receives messages either text or email, red indicator blinks blinks.
Now, when phone is in holster and someone calls the phone but i dont pick it up, therefore it misses a call. Is there a way for me to find out if i have missed calls without pulling phone out of the holster, maybe phone will blink green or blink red or some sort of indications ?

Tks guys

Search for BBAlerts. It'll do what you want.

As it is, no.

BBAlerts software will allow you to costomize your LED with a different color blink, say white, for a missed call.

You can find and trial BBAlerts at Mobile Software and Games for your PDA or Smartphone : Handango

You can use PocketMac to install third-party applications, or you can download the application OTA (over-the-air) if the software manufacturer offers this option.

You should really check out BlackBerry FAQ - BlackBerryFAQ
I'm sure you'd find that your questions are answered there before you even ask them.

If I recall correctly, handango gives you an OverTheAir install... not via the desktop.

I hope that is correct.

It uses your BlackBerry Data Plan to download the software directly to your device from whatever server the application is hosted on.

If you don't have a BlackBerry Data Plan, then you can't do OTA application install.

PLEASE... read through the FAQ. It discusses all of this.
