Default When will a decent wifi BB be available on AT&T?

Please Login to Remove!

I'm stuck with AT&T service for the forseeable future (can't switch to T-mo), but I want to get a wifi enabled blackberry. I don't like the form factor nor the keyboard on the 8820 so it's not an option. I really like the Curve but the new 8310 doesn't have wifi (I could care less about GPS). I would settle for the Pearl, but it also lacks wifi.

Does anyone know (or at least a good guess) when AT&T will get a Curve or Pearl with wifi? I think it is so ridiculous that these products (the curve w/ wifi) exist but they just haven't been released on my carrier. I'm ready to spend my money, but AT&T and RIM don't want it. Lame.

If you don't like the Curve with GPS I'd happily trade the one I have coming with Wifi for it! Seriously, I think that AT&Tingular users are getting the better choice of BlackBerry devices, as you have both the 8800 w/ Wifi and the 8310 with GPS. T-Mobile users only have the 8320 now...

Wirelessly posted (SAMSUNG-SGH-I607/I607FG1 Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 4.01; Windows CE; Smartphone; 320x240) UP.Link/6.3.0.0.0)

ATT will get it eventually! you could buy a TMO 8320 and get it unlocked

I agree with ZRunner. I suggest getting the Curve from T-Mobile and having it unlocked. RIM should be able to provide you an unlock code over the phone and at no cost as you will end up purchasing the device from T-Mobile at list price (I have previous experience with this).

Not sure how long you have used the 8820 but I would give it the free 30-day trial as offered by Cingular/AT&T.

I use used to feel the same about the keyboard on my 8800 (now 8820) but have grown to like it. I have to agree that I prefer the keyboard on my wife's 8300.

Thanks for the suggestions but I really dont want a used unlocked phone and it's inherent hassles. It's just stupid that this technology exists but AT&T/RIM don't want to sell it to me.

No one has any good estimates of when we'll get a wifi pearl or curve on AT&T?

While on a call with at&t BlackBerry support, I was told the 8310 was due shortly. But the gentleman said they had been testing the 8320 and found some "issues" with it. No, he didn't elaborate on the issues. But he said that one would not be coming out anytime soon.

Personally, I love the 8820. My company tried to force me to a Curve. I'm still on the 8820. I do wish at&t would support the Voice over WiFi options like T-mobile. I just seem to wind up in too many conference rooms with no cell coverage and still good WiFi signal. :(

Define decent. It appears to me to be a moving target.
