my computer can't seem to detect my bb. i uninstalled the desktop manager out of frustration. i found out that i need to have the USB driver for my bb. i got it from the website. i downloaded it but when it was almost done downloading, a window appeared saying the software i was downloading is not Windows certified. I continued anyway and tried connecting my bb to the computer after but it still would not connect. i have tried all of my usb ports but it still wouldn't work! help!!!

Hi. I would suggest to reboot your PC first and try re-connecting the device, and when you launch Blackberry Desktop Manager afterwards, it should detect your 8900.

What OS on your PC?

Download and install either DM 4.6 or 4.7. That has the proper BB drivers if you are using either Windows XP or Vista.

Make sure you connect directly to the PC, not via a HUB.

If it refuses to connect, try a battery pull on the BB.

battery pull? as in i remove the battery while it's still plugged in to my pc? i haven't tried that yet. but so far, i've reinstalled the driver and the desktop manager. i tried it on all 3 usb ports and it still didn't work..

Battery pull on the BB. With the BB on, pull the battery for about 30 seconds. Reinsert and let the BB reboot.

Are you uninstalling and reinstalling the same version Of DM?

Uninstall DM.

Reboot PC.

Turn off Anti Virus.

Install different version of DM, maybe 4.2 SP2/SP3 this time. No need to reinstall drivers as they are included in DM (that might be the problem also).

Connect BB via USB.
