What can the program do?

• Create "rules" to control which Profile is active. You select the Profile, the days and the duration of the rule.
• Assign a profile Profile to a Calendar event. The rule will automatically adjust if the time of the Calendar event is changed. Likewise, the rule will delete itself if the calendar event is deleted.
• Allow "nested" profiles. You can create a rule that spans the whole day if you like, and when a rule ends, it will switch back to the rule that spans the whole day.

There are a few things you need to be aware of as you try out the program.

• The program is currently tested on a large number of BlackBerry devices on OS 4.1 and 4.2.
• The program requires that keystroke injection be allowed for the application. (Instructions on how to do this are in the application.). NOTE : If you are on a BES, you may have to ask your BES administrators for permission to enable keystroke injection.
• The profile will not switch when the BlackBerry is holstered or the keyboard is locked. You will be notified by an audible alert if this condition occurs, and immediately upon unlocking, or unholstering, the profile will switch.
• Cannot work with custom profiles (coming soon!)

Any chance of adding a choice of "Use Today Only" to the list of days?

I'd imagine often people need it to change only one time, and this would eliminate having to go back in and delete a Rule.

Checking "Use Today Only would dim the list of days of the week, and automatically delete the specific Rule, once it's end time has arrived and the default profile is changed back.

Just a thought....

Also, is there a link on your site if I want to make a donation? You were generous in giving me a license, but I'd like to still donate for your excellent work, just not sure I feel generous enough to donate the full registration fee...?

The ability to set all day profiles and have them change at the start and end of a meeting is fantastic.

This is now a must have app.

I would like to have software that allows the profile to be changed when the charger is connected/disconnected.

This would be of extreme value to me.

There are a lot of things in the works for the releases to come.

• Support for a "default" profile.
• Quick, "One Time" rules, like for going to a movie, but you don't want to make a calendar entry.
• More options to the calendar rule, like "Start this profile xx minutes before the calendar event." and "Extend this profile xx minutes after the calendar event." This will allow for a meeting that runs over.
• Option to not display the splash screen.
• Background and text color options.
• Date format options YYYY/mm/dd, dd/mm/YYYY
• Time format options, 12hr vs 24hr
• Automatic scheduling of profile rules for recurring appointments

That's probably enough to keep me busy for a while .

Me too! I'd like to be able to take off my phone when I get home from work, plug it in the charger, and have it automatically change my ringer to LOUD. Then, at 10pm, turn my phone to silent and at 7am turn it back to Loud while plugged in, then when I unplug turn it to Vibrate. THAT would be perfect.

I just installed this app today, and I AM pretty excited that I can do everything but the plugin feature automatically.

Ok, I was excited...

I'm having an issue where BBProfiles runs, launches the profile app, then says that it is complete, but never changes the profile and leaves the profile app open. Any suggestions?

Just curious, we haven't heard from Matthew in about two weeks, since this post was made.

Is this program being worked on? Is an update due, and if so, anyone know when?

Just wondering what's happening... it took off with a great burst, numerous updates and improvements, then the above list of coming improvements was posted, and since then.... nada, nothing, zip, zero.....

I created a new profile specifically for overnight use, but the profile scheduler doesn't seem to know it exists. Also, I'd like to set the schedule to use the nighttime profile between 11pm-8am but the app tells me the starting time must be before the ending time.

Any help for these 2 issues?

A cool feature would be...put a specific user-defined code word in the Notes section of a calendar event.

BB Profiles scans the current week's calendar once or twice a day, and for any appointment w/the code word, sets a pre-selected profile linked to that code word in BB Profiles.

That would remove requirement to set a profile manually...just tap in your code word into notes and BB Profiler would set the right profile. After the event ends, switches back to the active profile defined in BB Profiler.

Also provide the option to kick off a manual scan to look for code words and update profile assignments.

Just thinking out loud.
