I think it is with the 8700. I have been playing with my Nokia BH-800 for awhile and it seems to lose connection the first few minutes and then it stops when I move my 8700 closer to me. But I tried talking with my gf for almost 2 hours, didn't have a problem at all about dropping the call.

Tried it with my SLVR and it didn't have any problems or issues at all. So I know it is not my Nokia BH-800.

Well mine isn't that bad. I don't have to manually re-connect it each time it drops the connection. It always picks up the connection again on its own.

Do you have it set as a trusted device?

Cool 8700C Drops Bluetooth Connection

Hi,

I have the same problem. I've had three 8700c (Cingular) and about five different blue tooth headsets. The blue tooth works fine for about a week or so. Then it start dropping the connection. My lastest device (i've had it for about two weeks) just started acting up. I have a new Plantronics headset. Sometimes it works. Other times it keeps dropping and then reconnecting over and over again. Does BlackBerry know about this issue? Do they plan on fixing it? From what I have read here, it looks like this is a widespread issue. I bet it's a software problem because everything else on the device works great!

I would venture (which means I am taking a shot in the dark here) to say that becuase while bluetooth is becoming more popular, it isn't as developed as it should be. Most headsets go to standby mode after a period of inactivity. One headset that I can think of that I have had no issues with was the Motorola H500. Even if it went to standby I rarely had issues with it. BUT I still experienced some problems.

It would be my guess that once BT HS's become better and bluetooth versions become more adapted, you should see significant gains. I mean, A BT HS dropping signal after 30 feet. Thats not really that far and you cant tell me that there is no room for improvement there.

Simply put, I think that the BB BT radio is week. My first 8700C dropped (and picked up calls) all the time. My second did not, or at least not as frequently, then alas I dropped it and it lost the speakers. My third is back to the drop and pick up. And I have tried it with several different BT headsets, and it does it to various degrees. It got to such a point that I am using my BB strictly for data, and use a V3i for voice. Shame.

Default Bluetooth on 8700 sucks

I suppose no one was able to solve this issue?

My 8700 does the exact same thing with both a Nokia car kit and a Jabra Headset.

Other phones work fine so I know this must be an 8700 problem..

Was there a solution to this for those people having problems?

I have 8700g with V 4.1.0.309 and BT connects but the call always drops after about 5 secs. Or rather the call drops back to the BB and you can hear the tiny voice coming from the handset; meanwhile BT headset gone quiet although apparently still connected.

Some of these posts are a while back but seem widespread. Has RIM fixed this yet or not?

Default 8700c bluetooth problems

Same problem with 8700c and HS850. I had the Plantronics 510 before. Thinking that the Plantronics had died, I bought the HS850. Exactly 5 seconds later, the damn Blackberry disconnects me. I was now thinking to get it replaced under warranty but obviously it seems to be a rampant problem. Last blackberry I will ever own.

I have upgraded the software from Cingular/AT&T to 4.1.0.377 (platform 2.0.0.152). Blackberry wants to charge for support and AT&T is no help but pointing fingers.

I posted the following in its own thread and now I realize it belongs here. Note: I previously had a Sony HBH-GV435 and had no issues like this. I'll probably get another one:

I have a Cingular 8700 and am having an issue with my Jawbone headset. Often, when I end a call, I get the three beeps in my ear and my BB display reads " Connection Lost". No more than a few seconds later(not more than 6 or 7) it re-connects and gives me the message "connection established". A few seconds later it is lost again. This happens continuously until I can't stand the beeping and throw the headset on the seat next to me while driving.

During calls it stays connected. No problem.

I have reset the jawbone; deleted it from my BB profile and re-paired; turned the jawbone off and then on again while this is going on and it still continues.

My BB 8700 (device properties) are set to "Trusted:yes"; "Echo Control: On"; and "encryption: enabled". I'm pretty sure I've tried all combinations.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I have Cingular's 8700c and the Motorola BT H700 worked briefly but now I also experience the drops after exactly 5 secs. Or rather the call drops back to the BB and you can hear the tiny voice coming from the handset; meanwhile BT headset gone quiet although apparently still connected.

Tried all options on the Device options on the Blackberry side (trusted vs not, echo control y/n, encryption y/n), pairing with a large vs small distance between headset and phone.

Nothing seems to help. So I have currently given up and tether my ear to the BB via the trusty wired headset.. looking so twentieth century)

Default Are there any RIM or Blackberry employees or experts on this forum ??

My question is did this BT connection dropping problem get fixed?

It's obviously a BB issue; all sorts of people have the problem with numerous different types of headsets. Headsets which work fine in other situations.

It is WOEFUL that this problem exists on this otherwise great product.

When are RIM going to address the problem and provide a suitable s/w fix??

Default Update on 8700c Bluetooth losing connection

I just tested my headset with a colleague's identical blackberry and that did not have this connection problem.

So this is likely an issue with batches of BB 8700c rather than all 8700c's.

I have also dropped my BB a few times so that may have also messed up the BT radio.

I am returning my phone under warranty and see if that gives a final resolution.

I have 3 8700g's (Tmo). All 3 have had various issues with bluetooth pairing off and on as the above posters have alluded to. Tried a few different bluetooth headsets (couple of plantronics, motorolas). Same issues with all of them. Uprgraded firmware to 4.2.xxx....smooth sailing, all headsets keep sync. So, it might be more of a software issue rather than a hardware issue that I suspected.

Here is my post elsewhere. Sorry to post in multiple places.

After upgrading to 4.2, I no longer have the 5 second disconnect issue. However, it is practically useless because the users hear every other word that I am speaking. With multiple headsets, fully charged.
