Ok so one of my clients wants to set up a hot DR site. They are currently running BES 4.1 on a standalone server with MSDE on the same box. Here is my plan:
Upgrade them to BES 5.0 and put the database on a separate SQL server.
Setup and install a secondary BES 5.0 server at the DR site and configure High Availability.
Now here are my questions.
Since both servers are using the same SQL database, we know we are easily protected from a Blackberry Server failure, but what happens if the entire site (primary BES and SQL server) go out?
I am thinking about doing SQL backups of the configuration DB and saving them offsite, but in the event of a failure, HA will not work will it since the database will need to be loaded on the backup SQL server?
Is there something I'm missing that needs to happen with the SQL database?
Also, what happens if you restore a backup of the configuration database that is 24 hours old? What happens to the emails received between the backup and restore of the db to a previous version?
