Still an interesting experiment. With the public release of 7 I figure it it a good possibility others are trying the same thing.

If anyone else is trying, here's a few things I've done (to no avail):
* Moved UAC to the lowest level (no effect)
* Tried removing UAC virtualization on loader.exe in task manager (no effect)
* Run desktop manager as Administrator. (It will not even see the BB plugged in)

Still working on it.

Well it's no wonder if you're trying to update a 8330 from bell with a bold OS. Lol.

Jeez. 8330 died last night and I'm trying to move to a Bold. Just haven't updated my profile yet. You'd think with my post count I'd get a little more credit. ;)

Installing with Vista went fine. Must be something with Windows 7. No surprise there.

For the windows 7 issue, try uninstalling the DM and reloading it. I had problems after the upgrade and the DM not seeing the usb on Vista. Worth a try. It worked for me.

Wirelessly posted (9000)

That audio volume thing HAS to be a bug...

happened today with my bluetooth S9 headset, kind of annoying.

Then later tonight I plugged in the stock headphones, but the volume was too loud, so I turned it down. Next track the volume went UP! WTF?

As for battery life, I've had a busy day and its still close to dead, but its better than .214 for sure.

.219 is working well for me.

i don't have a wifi issue. its working perfect for me

8 hours so far and I am at 80% battery left. Seems the same as when I was on .214

memory is a bit higher than previously when I was on .214

i now have a visual voicemail icon (hopefully will work soon)

I hadn't even noticed the visual voice mail icon, but sure enough its there. Loaded .219 this afternoon. Haven't noticed any significant changes thus far. I don't use the berry for music so can't comment on the volume thing.

I don't even have the visual voicemail icon. Must have to do with the service books from AT&T.

visual voicemail icon wont show up unless you edit the vendor info.
vvm.cod / alx , I cant fully remember but you need to remove the Vendor=
from the .cod or alx file.

Default VVM Application - what/where

There are two preconditions for the VVM icon to show up, it seems. The first one is that the vendor ID must match your phone - currently it's set to ATT I believe. I edited the file "net_rim_bb_vvm.alx" to eliminate any reference to any vendor at all.

Secondly, the language must match one of the languages within that file. It didn't install until I switched from UK English to US English.

Finally - on my Bold it didn't show up at all until I used the BlackBerry button to Switch Applications : I saw the icon there in the running programs list. When I ran that application, it gave me a promising screen of licence information and then an error "Failed to Provision - check with your Carrier" sort of thing.

Anyway - it wasn't the most productive thing I did last night...

Default WiFi Key needs re-set after upgrade?

It seems that the active profile at the time of the upgrade is the broken one at the end of the upgrade.

For the last many updates I've had to go and re-supply the WEP key for the WiFi network that I use at the office. After the upgrade the security is set to NONE and the WEP key is nulled out.

I am curious: Instead of re-creating the whole profile, just check the security field to see if that's the root cause.

This will have to be a test for the next update. I had two profiles created and have already replaced both. It would make sense that it's a simple security issue, though.

I see this sort of thing all the time - "bugs, bugs, bugs", or "it sucks". This version works great for me. I can't understand why it is just cr@p for some people, and it is great for me.
