Default roaming/carrier lock

Please Login to Remove!

My ATT bold does not appear to have the prefered network selection option. Is there a way lock my phone to a specific carrier or prevent it from roaming?

Find the manage connections icon, click it. Go down to mobile network options and click it. Look for a line that says "Data services" set it to off while roaming. 5.) os has a line under data services for "While roaming" set it to off

EDIT - If you are in the US but live near canada or mexico, call att and have them add the NIRM soc code. Prevents roaming on canada and mexico towers (phone cant connect to them)

Thanks for the tip. I'm not trying to stop data services, just keep ATT when it's available. Mostly for voice. Would changing my OS to a non-ATT build affect my options?

When you say "preferred network selection" option, are you referring to Connection Preference option?
Where it would allow you to chose mobile network or wi-fi?
Or something else?

Something else. I want to lock onto a specific carrier to prevent roaming. For voice calls.

Change the network selection from Automatic to MANUAL then select the network you want.

I'm just curious. I can do what MD is saying (TMO USA). And I know from troubleshooting in the past I could even do this on my 7100t years ago. So obviously this user on a NA carrier can do it. What's the difference between me and the OP?

When I switch from automatic to manual, the device spends some moments scanning for available networks, then presents me with the choices of either T-Mobile 2G H, or AT&T 2G. T-Mobile is selected. I haven't tested what happens if I select AT&T I'm guessing I'll only have SOS if I did, as there is T-Mobile service in this location.

No. I'm talking the network selection mode.

The "2G H" and "2G" are what appear after T-Mobile and AT&T, respectively. There is a radio button beside each, with the T-Mobile field. I see none of this when automatic is selected. It all appears after switching to manual. And there is the instruction, "Select Automatic Mode When Manually Selected Network is Not Available."

I do have the Network Mode field, with options 2G or 3G & 2G. But this is separate from the Network Selection Mode Setting.
