Default New 3G Sim card works in Razr but not in Blackberry - 'Insert Sim Card' and SOS

Please Login to Remove!

Just bought an 'open box' Blackberry 8800 at a local store. I first tried my 64k sim card from my Razr in the BB, but got an 'Insert Sim card' message on the screen. Then I went to a Cingular store, where they transferred my 64k card to a 3G card. Still getting the 'Insert Sim card' message on the BB.

I have tried to go to Advanced Options > Host Routing Table to register it on the network, but I get a 'Registration messaged queued' message.

I'm fairly sure I have the sim card installed correctly (I've tried all the possiblities of fitting it into the slot -- and no, it's not in the SD slot! : )

Any ideas?

Then it can only be a defective device.

Default One reason for 'Insert SIM Card' error

After searching on the string "Insert SIM Card", and looking at the three hits found, I opened the user's device and discovered that one of the six brass SIM card contacts was pressed down so far that it wasn't making contact (BB7290).

I gently pried it up to the same height as the others, put everything back together, and voila!
