I've heard from a couple of people that are beta testing the Mac BB Desktop Manager and they all rave about it. Smooth and stable, and it gives you all the features of the Windows client. One guy said that updating the OS was hit-or-miss, but other than that (and that's a BIG one), it's great. Personally, I'm on the verge of losing sleep over this piece of software. Between that and Snow Leopard I can hardly stand it!

I know, Rambo. I am getting obsessive. I pre-ordered Snow Leopard over the weekend and I check this board 4 or 5 times a day hoping to see someone with a leaked version of the Mac DM beta. It is going to be a loooong month of August!

Yup I am, there are a few bugs here and there but hopefully they will be fixed by the time it is officially released.

Haven't had the opportunity to try the OS update yet.

Curious how you pre-ordered this. I went to the Mac site and there's no way to pre-order.

Silly question perhaps but how does the DM for Mac handle OS updates - are there going to be a whole bunch of new dmg downloads or does the DM somehow handle the existing .exe files?

I can't be an exe. exe is a Windows executable file and won't run in Mac OS.

Perhaps our resident beta tester could offer some insight?

I don't see anything specifically for an OS update. But it supposed to be for official releases only, so most likely it will be done through an application install/update and there will be a mac-compatible file made available.

I run my Macbook with Parallels for the benefit of a very short list of Windows apps, one of them being Outlook 2003, the other being Desktop Manager. I'd love to be able to try Entourage with the Mac Desktop Manager and scratch those previous two off my Windows list. And get that closer to my goal of NOT using Parallels any more.

By the way, I tried both Pocket Sync and Missing Link a year and a half ago and came up empty. No interest in trying again.

Does anyone know how to put your own downloaded OSs into the app, so I can update my 8900's OS beyond what they offer me?
