Hi,

Does anyone know when we can expect a new blackberry and what features it may have. I want to upgrade my 7280. Thanks.

I heard about the new device with built-in BT and WLAN, which seems to be for T-Mo in Germany. T-Mo in Germany is working on a new technology which offers you roaming between GSM/GPRS/WLAN networks for making phone calls and sending/receiving data. The phone decides which network you use, depending on the strength of the signal. Wondering if this works ...

This is still a VERY emerging technology. Hopefully it will eventually work but there are a lot of moving parts. Its main dependence is on the ability of the networks to seamlessly transfer the data stream from one protocol to another without any interruption to the end user. The WLAN part would effectively be running on a wi-fi network which means it's a TCP/IP data stream. So you have to convert from that to whatever GSM is etc. Now think about trying to do that while you're driving down the highway at 80 miles an hour. It's a cool concept but still has a long way to go.

In my opinion, that will be huge for the viability of the one-device concept. High speed voice and data in one device with widely accessable access points. . . cool

What does the 7290 offer over the 7280? I've heard the same size screen as before though backlit like the 7780. Anything else?... bluetooth maybe?

Default Blackberry 7290

I here the 7290 will be offered by Cingular Wireless soon!

It has quad band, bluetooth, and a better phone receiver.

It is black again. The phone quality is much improved and will work well.

I have seen the beta model and it Rocks!

Enjoy your new 7290!

Default hi

Does it have a newer OS?
Any other features? Like using it for PPT shows by linking it to a projector?
Or a Speaker phone perhaps?

4.0 won't do PPT shows nor will it link to a projector. If that's a need, look to Pocket PC or Palm OS and a more robust handheld unit.

As for speakerphone, that has to be built into the unit. It's a hardware thing that can't be added via firmware. The Nextel unit has a speakerphone.
