I just found something on the internet that says if you have BES 4.0, you may not be able to send pictures using BES. I thought our IT dept was using 4.1, but we may still be on 4.0.

I'm trying to send a pic using BIS. It seems to be working, but it is taking a long time (I assume because of the file size).

Ok looking through the posts here with the pic issue, it appears that all of the US posts are east of the mississippi, is it possible for this issue to be Locality related? A routing issue, although mine won't even allow the attachment, let alone trying to send it.

Just a thought! Please forgive me if it was a stupid one.

Ahh, well I hope that resolves what the issue is for you. Sometimes it's just a matter of going through the process of elimination.

Good Luck!

Thank you. I doubt that really is the problem though as the pictures I was sending were only 10KB and didn't actually send at all. Still no solution though!

I cant email pics thru BIS in Pakistan for the last one month.
Whenever I try to do so, X comes after some time and pic doesnt go thru.
My service provider is blaming RIM and says its a global bug with BIS 2.4

I just solved this for myself yesterday.
I could not email pictures from my pearl. My Pearl is on a BES.
turns out, i had to upgrade the BES from 4.1.0.10 to 4.1.4.17.
The upgrade was completely painless. took under 10 minutes.
then, via the BES, i re-sent the service book. and wham.... I could email pictures. It is great.
before I only had 1 option. send pic via MMS.
now I have 2 options. send via MMS or send via email.

I am on BIS and still cannot send pics, I get the "exceeds size allowed for attachments" message nomatter what size the pic is. I have tried them as small as 7kb. Very frustrating. I had a Pearl and now have a Curve with same results for both phones.

I bought my curve unlocked. I am on Centennial wireless that just finally got BB services last month. I activated the 1st day available and it was an issue then. They still haven't resolved it. I presumed it was a BIS issue since 2.4 was implemented only a week or so before that and since I have no options to upgrade my BIS I presume it is version 2.4.

My phone is an ATT phone unlocked, but I installed Centennials curve software on it when I received it hoping that would help the issue it didn't.

After nearly four hours of intervention/resetting etc by the network, the problem is finally fixed.

I haven't updated my BES yet (still running 4.0sp7), so my users can't email pictures.
I know this is a VERY old thread, but I figured I'd share this.

I'm on BES-SBE 4.0 using a Pearl (TMobile) and while I can't email photos directly from the camera ap, I can start an email and then attach any JPG that's saved.

Takes a few seconds more, but it sure beats spending the money to upgrade to 4.1

Still 95% of BIS users in Pakistan cant email pics. Its been 6 months and only some accounts are able to do so.
Service provider blames RIM.

Default Also having problem sending photos

My problem is similar yet different.

If I am in my photos and I try to send that photo via email. I do not get the option to send the email.

However, if I compose and email and then attach the photo it sends it just fine. Recipient gets the message and the attachment no problem
