Wasn't there a recall thread a few months ago?
There is ALWAYS a recall rumor.
There was also a recall rumor when the 7100 came out.

I am betting four in a row is not a pearl problem, but you might have too high expectations for it. Yes the battery drains. Yes, you recharge it daily and throughout each day as needed.

Good luck.

i know the battery drains and i know charge as needed, everyone i have talked to (friends and family) all say that it seems very strange how my battery lasts only 2 days, my girlfriend listens to mp3's for 1.5hours everyday and sends text's and makes calls, and she can only charge it every 4 days, i only text and make a few calls and its dead, even if i DONT use it it is dead in 2 days, i have talked to the people at rogers and they too say that it is strange and the sales associate that i was dealing with atone point said that they too were having battery troubles but exchnaged it for a 8800

That behavior really is normal for the 8100.

Like the mod said, there's always recall gossip and rumors.

They are all started by people who said they heard somewhere that there was a recall. You can tell the fakes by the fact that no one ever points to a reliable source other than "I heard" or "Someone told me."

Usually it's people whom have had problems with their phones and they vent by starting recall rumors.

So not to worry, there is no recall. If there was, that would be BIG news on these boards and the post would cite the readers to RIM or the carrier and most certainly not the "Book of They Say and I Heard."

I totally agree with you on that one.. I don't have problems with my Pearl.. just the battery is that great. But to me that isn't really a huge issue because my phone lasts throughout the day and @ night i just charge it while im on my bluetooth talking to someone... One thing actually that bothers me is that when im on the phone... and the battery is almost dead and i don't really know it because im talking on the phone for a while.. is that it doesn't tell me anything that the battery is dieing... no sound... no nothing... what can i do so that i can hear the noise and that i can be notified? Because when my phone dies i have to wait a good several min in order for the radio to turn on... and the other person who im on the phone with is like wtf... thats one thing that bothers me.. i need help on that one hommies

See my various posts and threads that talk about the Seidio extended batteries and also the OEM "yellow" battery.

From day one people have complained about the OEM battery not lasting long, despite RIM's published optimistic stats on battery life [all manufacturers exaggerate how long a battery will last. It's almost an accepted practice, to lie or misrepresent battery duration].

After 8 months of use and posts by various members, one can safely assume that the Pearl OEM battery lasts about 1.5 to 2 days before it gets close to empty. Some have reported, based on heavy use, that the battery lasts about one day, at most.

I have gone on record to say that the Pearl OEM battery is grossly underpowered for what the phone is expected to do, act not only as a phone and e-mail device, but also to perform multi-media functions.

Why did RIM put out a phone with a lousy battery? IMHO to keep the phone within their marketing plans, which included the Pearl being the "lightest smartphone in the world," which is precisely how they marketed the phone when it came out.

Wirelessly posted (BlackBerry8100/4.2.0 Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1 VendorID/100)

Its funny I always read about battery life problems. With the number of blackberries in my household I have various chargers set up around my house. So when I'm home I'm always charging my phone. When I'm in the car I charge it. I carry one with me if I'll be out for an extended period. Frankly except when experimenting on how long the battery will I charge my phone everyday so even sending emails, web browsing, chatting on messenger I have never experienced a dead battery.

I don't find battery life to be a big problem, but this is probably because I don't use my Pearl much at home as the signal is so crummy! When travelling, I have another RIM yellow battery for it that I just swap over as and when I need it. This saves me having to take the charge for trips less that 3/4 days. This seems to work well if I keep it charging in the car on battery one until I get to the airport or wherever.

Ok... this has sorta turned into a battery life discussion... I realy don't see the big deal. At home I just lug it in and at work I do the same thing. My battery is fine... even using the ColorPearl set to Cycle and never cutting off, my Pearl does fine. Had a RAzR before and the battery life was bout the same... I LOVE NMY PEARL and they can have it "when they pull it from my cold, dead hand!" LOL

I don't think the battery life is that bad. About 2 days, which is good for a device constantly connected like the BB is. Other "phones" aren't connected 24/7 like the BB so you cannot compare the battery life with them IMO.

Best place to find out about recalls is usually google.

Funny that on entering "pearl recall" that the ONLY hit on google is BBF.

"pearl recall" - Google Search

And on "blackberry pearl recall" there is only one hit, on another Blackberry forum thread.

And on "blackberry recall" there are no hits:

"blackberry recall" - Google Search
