Default 8330 / Vista Bluetooth driver problem

Please Login to Remove!

Hi All,

I have a new 8330 with Desktop Manager 4.5.0.15 installed in Vista Business on a ThinkPad t61. The two devices pair up and sync via Bluetooth works great. But every time the laptop boots up when the BB is around, it detects new hardware, prompts for Bluetooth drivers, and then says "Windows was unable to install your Bluetooth peripheral device."

How can I find out what Bluetooth services are running on the phone and which drivers Windows is unable to find? I checked both Verizon and RIM and am unable to find the Bluetooth software drivers for the 8330. And apparently the installation of Desktop Manager doesn't include all the drivers that Vista wants.

Any and all help and advice is appreciated. Thanks in advance!

-Ken

I couldn't have said it better myself. I have spent 2 full days on this and cannot get anywhere. I think we are SOL.

I can tell you this though.....the 2 devices that won't install are the Desktop Connectivity and the Bypass Service.

If you want to keep them from showing up and trying to install all the time just uncheck the boxes for those 2 devices i mentioned and they won't bother you.

You just won't be able to access the internet on your laptop through your phone by Bluetooth. Only the USB cable will work.

To be honest, I gave up. Tried several times with two different laptops with two different versions of Vista (Home Premium and Ultimate) but no go.

Same issue here with 8310 and Vista Ultimate. Drives me crazy that RIM would not fix this problem

Thumbs up 8330

Ok... I have been able to connect to computer with BlackBerry 8330, you have to have your Blackberry "Desktop Device Manager" on, then set up your bluetooth from there after it is set up on the computer.... then when you open up "Desktop Manager", look on bottom left corner, and you will see "Device Connected (PIN)", if it says NONE afterwards, click on NONE... then it should match up with device, and put the PIN there... BUT, it seems to only be able to do a couple of things... "Backup and restore" and "Sinchronize" the others you have to connect USB....

and, after you boot, and it asks you those questions, should click don't ask again, because that can be annoying everytime you boot up....

BUT, I am very disappointed myself, ever since I bought the BlackBerry, I have been very disappointed in it... and well, this still adds to the Disappointment.. and paying almost $500 for it, you think you would be able to do all of this stuff... should even mop your floors, but, anyways, I digress... but, hopefully they figure something out, so I can go back to rightclicking and sending via bluetooth over computer....

Here is how I solved this problem. I'm using Windows Vista Home Premium with a Blackberry Curve 8330.

I simply went into Windows Device Manager and disabled the Bluetooth devices that Windows were detecting as problematic. This hasn't affected my ability to sync via Bluetooth.

Hopefully this helps.

Default BB curve 8330, VISTA

this worked for me. I simply uninstalled the drivers that were causing the issues and my BB connected right away.

Default Vista 8330 Bluetooth Support

In echoing the frustration here in the forum about the lack of full Bluetooth support for the Curve 8330 in Vista, I think that it's RIM's responsibility to issue driver updates WITHOUT having to change DM versions! If RIM can't step up, then Microsoft should. My 8330 connects beautifully with my Sony VAIO with Windows 7! You shouldn't be forced to disable Bluetooth features... I love the ability to send pictures, etc directly to the computer via Bluetooth!
