God knows - it kind of sucks doesn't it! That said, it's only any real use if you have the blueooth receiver. I find Google maps excellent though, and that's available now.
i'm desperate for this too! - here's some sneaky info: the maps already work in the uk, i've seen blackberry maps in the uk on a rim employees pearl, it worked fine without a gps puck; just using location based services. my guess is they're ironing out performance issues or trying to get some agreements together with the carriers to share info on mast positions.

I don't know... BlackBerry Maps, I find, kinda sucky. I tried (for fun) typing in from my home to my family's restaurant (5 minute walking distance) and I got directions from my home to somewhere in Quebec...and I live in Vancouver.
I use BB maps and it works well. I did get wrong directions until i put in the city and country correctly. I thought RIM had other countrys listed? Maybe they keep them restricted. I wonder who does the maps? Google does not offer a BT GPS option for non GPS built in 8700's. when it does it may be better .
Over the weekend I used BB maps and I noticed that it does not provide exit numbers for highway travel. It gives the named exit but there may be multiple named exit on certain highways. Does anyone else noticed this?
