Default Uhh oh dropped my 8830...

So I dropped my beloved Verizon 8830... I really only care about fixing the viewing screen but wouldn't mind fixing the whole thing... Anyone care to offer up some advice?

This is why I bought insurance on the phone.. I say its a must for any smart phone at $500 a pice its not cheap.. And paying $50 to insurance and you get a new phone is worth it. So if you dont have insurance call up and try and add it then wait a week and make a claim.

^^ Ditto. Mobile phone insurance is a beautiful thing. You may get a refurbed unit, but all the refurbs I've received look brand new and work great.

Also, I would do a search in this forum for "replacement parts" or even "rail." There are multiple threads with links to online stores who offer replacement OEM parts. The parts seem pretty cheap too

I dropped mine this past weekend directly onto concrete from a distance of about 3 feet...I kinda' saw the whole thing like it was happening in slow motion...could not have landed worse than it did.

Zero problems, lol. YAY!!

I've got insurance... The scratches are super light and there is only like 3... The metal rail on the side I could care less or the silver near the ear piece... I'll check into the replacement parts

Depending on how goofy you are about everything looking "shiny new"...you could replace the scratched parts...

BLACKBERRY 8800 CELLPHONE PARTS CINGULAR GSM - RIM BLACKBERRY CELL PHONE REPAIR PARTS

I dropped mine (nick, scratch) and now after a few more months, some of the keys are starting to wear down (light shining through). My new "toy" isn't looking so new anymore :(

Wirelessly posted (Verizon 8830: BlackBerry8830/4.2.2 Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1 VendorID/105)

I dropped mine fairly often.
I have used the insurance on prior devices because the trackwheel or esc button would malfunction.
These devices sometimes have issues with humidity as well depending on where you live.

I think Cellular Nationwide Network has less expensive parts:
8830 - BlackBerry, Nokia, 3G, Acer, NEC, Accessories Store, Motorola, Tools, Dopod/O2,

Oops didn't notice rjansen3's link posted above to the same site. But CNN is like 1/6 the price

I noticed this too (price difference between the sites). Are there any differences in the parts? More expensive = better parts?
