BES with Wifi only?

Hi,
I'm running BES and a Exchange 2007 box. All work fine with a t-mobile BB Curve and have done for 2 years or so.
I have just recieved a Bold with a different carrier. I've heard stories that this carrier sometimes send them out provisioned for BES by accident and that some folks have got them working with BES without paying for the provision. This particular carrier charge £28 per month so if I can avoid this so much the better.
I managed to activate the Bold by connecting to the BES via USB and assigning the device. This worked ok.
When I am connected to my wifi network, which is the same as the BES is on, things seem to work fine.
When I move out of range and on to 3g/GPRS things stop working.
I notice that if I update outlook calendar when my BB is not connected to the wifi then the update will fail, even when I come back in to range of the wifi the update is not pushed through. Looking in the logs of the BES i see:-

I guess what I am wondering is if there is any way to make the updates kind of queue up so that when I come back in range of the wifi then the updates will sync?
Is it possible to configure BES and the handheld for this type of operation?
Many thanks
Mike
