There is no official way to get 4.0 before it's released officially. Unofficially, rumor has it that Guess will give you access if you post over 50 posts. For what it's worth, 4.0 is still a bit buggy, and has its own set of issues.

I use david Allen's Getting things done which uses categories - I heard 4.0 will be a little more user friendly for us people who live by the GTD principles

Ahhh....I have a philosophical objection to getting anything done :D

But joking aside, 4.0 DOES support categories across the board. It also has a "robust" search feature across all applications. Both of which should prove most useful for GTD followers. I would suggest becoming an active member of this forum, posting regularly, and seeing what happens if you break 50...

From what I understand, there will no more need for the (desktop) client once you have 4.0 on your handheld. If I remember correctly, PIM will then synch wirelessly so no need to dock.

Are you talking about without BES? Does this mean you have only one address. I have an exchange email account and a TMobile address that I use as (those of you familiar with Mobitex) my interactive pager. Can you set this up to sync both or are you talking about having just one email address?

That sure would be great, is it for BES users or BES and BWC users?

Good question! I'm going off the info on blackberry.com site:

Code:
Enhanced wireless data features will help to eliminate the requirement for users to manually synchronize information with their PC, which further increases their mobility.
Code:
New wireless "cradle-less" provisioning functionality will help to eliminate the need to install BlackBerry Desktop Manager on users’ desktops.
It's definitely there for BES 4.0. My guess would be only BES.

Our users rarely use the desktop manager anyways... only reason we install it is to get rid of the "found new device" everytime they plug it in...

Same here. Every month or so I'll plug in to sync my contacts with Outlook.

So, again I pose the question, are you guys using just one email address exclusively?

I'm using multiple email addresses with my Blackberry using:
(1) BWC email address
(2) Forwarding other accounts to BWC email address
(3) BES/MDS hosting email address and its multiple aliases

Full push for everything. No POP pulls. I like all my emails to arrive instantly rather than email checks every 15 minutes with POP.

Right, gotcha. What if you wanted to have a copy of emails that come into your BWC account to also go to your exchange hosted account automatically and without BES?

You mean a non-MDS exchange hosted account?

Well, you'd want to configure your AutoBCC: of your BWC to send a copy to your Exchange email address. Go to your BWC webmail, then go to Profile, then configure Auto BCC.

Right, I can do that for messages that I send, but what about messages that are sent to me at my BWC client address?
