Pairing HH 7290 to Notebook computer
Please Login to Remove!
I've read thru many of the posts in this forum regarding Bluetooth. I have the
moto HS820 and jabra bt200 bluetooth headsets. I have them both paired and working well with both my 7290 and my notebook computers.
I have strugled a bit pairing the 7290 to either notebook. From what I've read blackberry's dont support file transfer or even sync via Bluetooth. Is there any value in pairing the HH to a notebook ?

That isn't entirely true.
I have paired my laptop and BB together. The only feature it uses (of course) is the voice gateway. This is good because you can use your PC/laptop as a headset for the BB. It supports Caller ID as well.

Thanks for the replies.
I'm trying to get the audio gateway setup, just to test it out. If I start from my notebook and add a device, I can pair the two; but, I get an error "Unable to detect service".
Does anyone know how to resolve this issue ?
My notebook is a Dell D610 running the Toshiba Bluetooth stack if that matters. I have the same notebook paired with both of my bluetooth headsets and they work fine.

Its probably the Toshiba BT driver. I put an orange micro BT with old WIDCOMM BT drivers in my compaq notebook and the BB 7290 paired up and selected the audio gateway. The only thing I had to do was enter the PIN for BT.

I would agree with Zeus. I had a similar problem, and uninstalled my BT driver then reinstalled it and it worked perfect. I also entered the PIN, and wham all was good.

yeah...but when??
Okay, I just started using a Moto H850 headset yesterday, but what I really want ot know is WHEN (because it will happen) will I be able to synch??
Is it a speed issue?? Do they just need to update the software?? Will they NOT do it because of security issues??
What's the dealio?? I HATE MY CABLE!!!!

Up to now it seems to be security issues. RIM has many government contracts and they don't want information transmitted over the air.

Does anything have to be done to get the voice service started to a PC. I plugged in a BT adaptor and paired up the BB. No services are shown on either end. Didn't realize that data wasn't supported, but to get something to work would be fun enough!

I didn't have to do anything special. My BT probed my BB to see what services it supported, and out of 10ish, it came back with only one (voice gateway).

It appear that it matters what bluetooth stack you are using. I have 2 laptops: 1) Dell running Toshiba bluetooth 2) Compaq running WIDCOMM bluetooth.
I couldn't get computer the dell running Toshiba bluetooth to pair. I was able to pair the Compaq running WIDCOMM bluetooth in about 1 minute. The compaq saw the HH and paired as simple as entering the pin on both devices.
I looked around on the net for a free widcomm bluetooth but didn't find one. I downloaded one but after the install it told me my license didnt support the device or visa-versa.

That is correct Zeus. While I had it run on my personal laptop, I got a company laptop with Bluetooth built in, and it didn't have the voice gateway. I did some research on the net and found a way to get 'hacked' BT drivers. I installed them, and they worked perfect.
I don't want to get anyone (BBForums, etc.) in touble, nor myself so I won't post any links here, but within 30 minutes of searching Google, downloading some drivers, and stuff, I got it to work.
Thanks!
