Default Blackberry and Pairing with a BMW?

Please Login to Remove!

Hi, I'm new to this forum but hopefully someone will be able to help.
A friend of mine bought a 2006 BMW 5 Series and is looking for a Blackberry to fully pair with the Bluetooth. The salesmen at Verizon are saying that no Blackberry supports the voice dialing and full pairing functions with a BMW. Does anyone have advice on how to get this to work or is there another handheld that will fully pair? Please let me know.

Thank you,
George

True, no blackberry supports the voice dialing and full pairing functions with a BMW. I purchased a Parrot CK3100 bluetooth handsfree for my BMW Series 5
http://www.parrot.biz/
and it supports voice dialing... I've paried it with my BB 8700c and it works great. That's probably not what you want to hear since the BMW has its own bluetooth, and the Parrot is another $300+ item...

I can speak a little about the voice dialing, to my understanding you would need to download a thirdparty software app. Try searching for "voice Dialing".

www.barjohn.com will prob. be able to help you with the BMW pairing. He has some expirence with that.

Default Bluetooth PC Card Assistance

I am trying to connect a Zoom Bluetooth PCMCIA card and have it perform two functions:

1. Tether to connect to laptop via Verizon EVDO.
2. Sync with Blackberry Device Manager.

I am using a BB 7130e from Verizon and I have op systems 4.1 on both the BB and desktop manager. THe Desktop Manager is 4.1.0.10. Is this the latest available? The "enable bluetooth option" is not abailable to check in the properties section. I have the third party software installed since Windows XP Pro SP2 did not recognize the PCMCIA bluetooth card and allow me to connect via the Windows drivers. I talked to Microsoft and RIM and they both had no idea how to help me.

Is there any way to make this happen? With the third party software, I get the BB to connect to the laptop but the enable BT option is still not available.

Any help you could provide would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

Not sure what you mean about 'fully pair' a BB and BMW. With OS 4.1 I can dial out, accept calls in, look at missed calls and use the BB address book in iDrive. The BB itself doesn't support voice dialing - but if you have the appropriate stuff in your BMW then you can get the car to do voice dialing.

Yes any blackberry running 4.1 will fully pair with a BMW 5 series factory bluetooth system. Since upgrading my Verizon 7250 to 4.1 I can use all the functions in the previous post. Prior to 4.1 I could still use voice dialing as that's a function of the car voice command system. Please note the car has an internal voice dialing address book that's seperate from the blackberry so any number you save here will work with any phone paired with this car.

Thanks guys. It looks like I will just give it a try. Hopefully the voice dialing will work but if not it's great to know he can at least use a 3rd party device. I appreciate the help.
