RIM's OS releases are generic. Just delete the vendor.xml file and it will work fine on the TMO 8100.

Do we have any information on whether this addresses the legendary 'phone doesn't ring in pocket' and 'phone accidently dials 911' issues?

Does anyone know if there are ANY fixes with this version, over the Tmo original?

It seems early to release an OS with too many, if any, groundbreaking bug fixes. I'm certainly willing to install it if it has any.

Thanks all. Truely good news.

No. You can not load the OS for one product line onto another.

i did find that if a call comes in to the device, moving the trackwheel will silence the ringer. However, unless the trackwheel is moving 100% of the time, the ringer will ring during the next ring cycle. This means you can mute it by rolling the trackwheel but then the ringer will pick up and ring again after the trackwheel movement stops.

Does that make any sense and is this different from before?

I know what you mean. I think this is different than before. It might seem there IS at least one improvement.

This fixed one of my major problems - if the device is locked, and a call comes in, moving the wheel does NOT silence the vibrate/ringtone. The correct menu (answer/ignore) pops up and you can ignore the call, but the vibrate continues.

It is v4.2.0.51 (as mentioned earlier). I have heard rumors about a v4.2.0.60 flying around but nothing firm and I do not have that version.

So we can place bets on a TMO upgrade in the next couple of days...or I mean TMO publishing one.

Installed it, so far so good. Seems like trackball issue during incoming calls has been resolved.

I have verified several times and trackball does not silence ringer anymore.

What does silence the ringer then? Also what will reject a call (bump to v-mail)?

I'm a TMO Customer and I was wondering how do I go about updating the OS?

I ran the application as well as the blackberry manager but I tested out the trackball glitch and its still there.

Shut down Desktop Manager
Download and install the new handheld OS
Locate and delete VENDOR.XML on your C: drive of your PC
Restart Desktop Manager

Did anyone else notice the option to turn auto dim is now gone after the OS update? It still works fine just the option to turn it on or off is missing even after a reboot. I got scared for a minute I installed this OS and it took about 15 min for my BB to come out of the spinning hour glass state I thought I messed up big time and was about to start to cry. No java error yet either!!
