he is a silly question, I have Desktop Manager version 4.2.1.8 dated January 16th, 2007 that was installed and used on my 8703e, can I use that to load my 8703e backed up phonebook and calender onto my 8830?

Yes, I've done it a few times to migrate data from an 8703e to an 8830.

Got mine yesterday, took back my 8703 I had for a 3 weeks. I like this much better so far! Look and feel is better, screen is clearer, and the added features are good.

One question on this track ball, will it get gummed up with lint from my pocket? Guess time will tell

Paid $299, or should I say my work paid $299 but got no rebate...hummm!

I have the 4 gig micro mem card in my phone also and it works great. Put it in, formated it, and was good to go.

And my phone is already dirty, killing me trying to keep it clean.

It looks very similar to that one minus the stitching in the middle, and yes it has a swivel belt clip that clicks when you turn it.

yup! that is the case, I am looking for a new one that completely encases the phone, that open space makes me nervous about scratching the phone.

Does anyone else get the sporadic signal strength issue where the signal bars go up and down? I asked the VZW tech support person on the phone about that and he told me a way to reboot to get a strong signal by holding alt, caps and delete, which reboots the phone (as opposed to pulling out the battery) so that the signal I guess reconnects and bad data is pushed off the phone according to him. My 8830 was fine, then I restored the phonebook and calendar from my 8703e which had the same signal issue and WAH LAH, shortly after the transfer my signal went up and down. Anyone else have a solution? Even though reception doesn't seem to be affected it drives me nuts to not see full signal all the time when I look at my device.

Default Sporadic Signal Strength

Yes, but it does not seem to impact voice/data transmission.

Default From SanDisk 02/12/07 press release:

SanDisk is now sampling the new 4GB microSDHC card to OEMs such as major phone manufacturers and mobile network operators (MNOs). Engineering samples are now available for evaluation, as mobile phone makers will need to upgrade the firmware in their handsets so that memory slots can support the new card.

It would seem like mobile network operators get first dibs on the 4gb cards. No word on other word from SanDisk other than to only say the 4GB unit will ship "later in 2007".

FYI, on 05/15/07 Samsung announced an 8GB MicroSD card but did not say when phone owners will be able to get their hands on it:

Default Global data or Global email?

We are looking to upgrade our 7130e's to the new 8830 BB. Regarding the data plans, currently we have the ulimited BB data plan on the 7130e's. With the 8830's we saw that there is a global data and a global email plan. In order for the phone to receive emial thourgh the bes as well as access the internet abroad which service do we choose? Also if we will not be traveling can we just stick with the unlimited bb data plan?
