Nextel is FINALLY coming out with an update for you. Not sure when, but it will be version 4.1.0.450. So maybe you can now partake in some of the broader range of 'fun' with themes and ringtones.

That is excellent news and itxxx8217;s about time. Watching the other carriers implementing updates was frustrating, itxxx8217;s good to know that we wonxxx8217;t be left out in the cold for long.

sheesh guys, i would suppose having over 6,000 posts and no memories of false information would be enough, right?

The latest Vendor.xml file has the following for the 0x04000905 (aka 7100i) handheld, under Nextel's section. There are also 4.1.0.4xx versions from NTT DoCoMo in Japan and KT PowerTel in South Korea, although I've had no luck finding the respective software downloads (not sure if the handhelds are even available over there yet; and I can't read Japanese or Korean, so navigating thier websites is impossible).

Code:
    <vendor id="0x67" Name="Nextel">
        <bundle id="System" version="4.1.0.250">
            <devicehwid>0x04000905</devicehwid>
        </bundle>
        <bundle id="System" version="4.1.0.450">
            <devicehwid>0x04000905</devicehwid>
        </bundle>
    </vendor>
Let me rephrase my original post, though... the software will be ATLEAST 4.1.0.450 (package version). Also, you should place an emphasis on the 'maybe' word in the original post - no guarantees on the ringtones (although newer themes, such as the Today and Zen themes will be supported).

i did a little bit of reading around, and what i am getting is that the new os is already available for the 87xx series, i haven't really heard any major changes. then again we are talking about two completely different platforms i guess so maybe we'll all just have to keep an eye out for any more updates.

Did anyone closely read the original thread?
Not sure when

Jibi analyzed the BlackBerry.ALX file - in order to unlock hidden themes not shown by all vendors - and found some code pertaining to a new version.

He didn't say "HEY IT'S HERE" - he found some information and shared it.

Bet you are glad you did that, Jibi.

mmhmm.

@athenslb57, War Eagle! 4 weeks cannot come soon enough, and I've already taken Sept 1st off from work to head out to campus a bit early to start on the drinking festivities (should be a large crowd early in the afternoon). Think we may actually head out Thursday night to rope us off an area.

Jibi,
We are leaving Friday afternoon to head down. I have a friend whose sister is a junior down there so we will be staying with her. She is supposed to be roping a spot off somewhere. Can't wait until that first Tiger Walk. I love night games!!!!!!!!
