i don't know what are the differences between cingular and tmo OS, but I'm positive you can download cingular's OS using tmo's 8700g

Yes, you can download and use the "Cingular version" on a T-Mobile 8700.

Just remember to delete VENDOR.XML from your PCs C: drive before you try to update the BlackBerry.

I dont see any dimension Today Plus theme. Also becareful i had a friend who tried doing the update he got an error, he had to format the unit, since it would crash on start up. Other then the themes i cant tell if anything is new.

1. The cingular browser has been updated, it is slightly different.

Can someone tell me if in the Network selection page under options is there a setting to turn the "data services" on and off? If it's there it would be at the top of the network page.

Ok so what's new folks. I am downloading but probably won't run it until I get back to Cal. Don't like upgrading while on the road.

There were some few "bugs" in the TMo latest version that I did not like and did not upgrade to...namely that the message alert icon does not appear on the Home screen. Does this version have that issue?

OK, here is a question. If you are using a different OS, Bharti for example, and you have an 8700c, do you need to download some new blackberry.alx file or can you use the one that is currently there before you try this OS. or what...let me know

No it doesn't, but if you would like that feature all you have to do is replace the radio file in the GPRS folder from Telstra 4.1.0.371.

Here's the file http://www.myfilehut.com/userfiles/1...s/rim8700g.sfi

Got the OS on. A few observations:

- Zen came along by default (I did not have to edit the blackberry.alx file)
- I did not remove the vendor.xml file, but
o. BB Messenger, Google maps and IM+ did not get carried over (had to reinstall all three. Noticed that the older version of IM+ is not compatible with this OS, had to download and reinstall)
o. Had to restore BB messenger db from backups

For all the other OS upgrades I have done so far, I have never had the apps get dropped. I am not sure if the above issues are because of leaving the vendor.xml file as is or something else.

Now the interesting part of seeing this OS perform begins...

Figment - is this feature only available for the Telstra OS or can it be "ported" to other OSs?

Couple of observations:

- Voice quality and volume is really good - looks like Cingular went after resolving the key issue with their old version (I can listen to the speakerphone clearly at one bar)

- The missed calls icon is not "cutoff" like in the Vodafone version

Yes it works for other OS's, I have it working on this new release and I have for other 8700 and 8707 releases.

Is this only with the Cingular version? I have it now via a download link and do not see that option.

Putting this OS on a 8703e (verizon) is a matter of just deleting the vendor file?

Same thing for me. I've done a lot of updates on many devices with no problems, however this is the first time I've done an update on an OS on a CDMA (sprint) device......will research and try again.

This upgrade is for the 8700. Not the 8703.
