Hello all,

I am new to this site and to the BB world. Just bought a "supposedly" new 8900 and after checking it thoroughly, it seemed it was previously used.

Nokias have a special function where you can see the first activation date. Do BB's have a similar function by any chance?

It is likely that there is one somewhere in software, but AFAIK, there is no way for a user to access that information. i havent even see something like that in debug or engineering mode.

Go to Options > Status and type BUYR and you will be able to see the usage.

It' won't give you the date, though.

Yeah, that only gives data usage, voice usage, and IIRC it will tell you if there is an ITpolicy in effect on the phone.

Also, a FULL device wipe can / will erase those counters.

Yeah I went to Options and Status. At the bottom there is:
Voice Usage: Exceeded 60 Minutes

I typed BUYR tho and nothing happened. Is that it?

A FULL device wipe will NOT erase those counters.

When you type in BUYR, it will add three additional lines of information to the status screen.
