I got the same thing. In fact, the DM download version of the BBM5 upgrade does the same thing. Has anyone gotten this to work on the 8900? I'm using 4.6.1.250 OS.

I was able to upgrade the 8900 with the OS4.6.1 files.

Backup your exiting BBM files and copy the newer ones into your java directory (where the OS is installed).

Edit : Also ensure you have downloaded "good" files. Try a different source perhaps.

BB Messenger 5.0 on my Storm is very nice. RIM is moving things in the right direction. I can't wait to see what comes of OS 5.0!

The java directory on the phone itself? How do I access that?

Gotcha. I had uninstalled the OS from the PC so that may be the source of my problem.

Jake if you are still unsuccessful with BBM5 use the BBM5 4.71 for the Tour for your 8900.Just delete old BBM from options settings, after backing up contacts, then ota install the BBM54.71 for the Tour.

Install the cod files in the java folder and the alx file in the appropriate file.

Just tried on my 8320 and 8110 (gf) and works great. Had a bit of challenge to install on 8110 but the same 4.5 version worked on both.

Only one disappointment, I thought the Proximity feature was based on triangulation but seems like its a GPS based feature.

Overall not bad. A refreshing look is a plus!

what's the deal with sending pics? or should I say receiving pic...........now we have to save it and then view it. Don't like that feature, preferred the quick glance without having to download.

Anyone else notice this?? or is there catch to view without accepting the pic?

how come my contacts don't show their icon, just default? All are the same even after they changed them. Same the other way they only see default for mine. Is there a setting I'm overlooking or something?

ok, thought so. So the avatars will update once this bug is fixed? Only reason I ask is because I seen on some sites screen shots with the avatars. Other way is if they sync avatars to address book entries.

The "Avatar"'s for all my contacts appeared ok (without any associating/tweaking)...
