Default How to install Google Maps on BB 8310?

Please Login to Remove!

Hi everyone.

I've searched the forum but I still need help.

I've just purchase my first BB so I really don't know most of the things.
I've tried to use Gps but it does not work, finds the satalites but shows no map.
I've read that we need to download google maps or another one.

Four questions:
which version of google maps do you recomend for the 8310?
Where I can download it, because I visit the links that I saw in the forum but I can't find in the web page a specific place...
Can I download to my PC and then send to my 8310? By bluetooth? How?
Do I have to do anything else so Gps is working?

I'm sorry for all the questions, I'm used to nokia so I'm really lost with my BB.

Thank U so much.

Do you have a BlackBerry Data Plan? You'll need one to use any mapping applications.

Just go to Google Maps from your BlackBerry Browser.

Default Google maps download question

Sorry for intruding.
New to BB & forums so please forgive. I just have a simple question...should I "check" by set application permissions prior to downloading google maps or for that matter any other downloads that asks this question?

Waiting to hear before i do anything!
Thanks

Call your wireless carrier and have them add a BlackBerry Data Plan to your account. They're usually about $30 per month.
It's what allows your BlackBerry to access the internet.

Oh...Ok... These specific terms in english...
I'll do that than.

But one question, I'll only need to access the internet to download the google maps, after that to use the Gps with Google Maps I don't need to access the internet, right?

Thanks a lot!

I've already installed Google Maps.
When I chose to run it my 8310 froze as I read it happened to other 8310 users.I had to turn it off.
Now when I click on Google Maps icon nothing happens..

I've also read that because 8310 has a internal GPS I would only need to download google maps and would not have to pay anything else to use it, but in the google maps pages advises that google maps are free but are an intensive downloading program...
Does this mean than whenever I use Google Maps I'll be using the internet even if 8310 has a internal GPS?

Thanks a lot for the patience...

You still need a data plan in order to continue using Google Maps (or any mapping application.)
The maps are downloaded on-the-fly using your data plan.

The internal GPS receiver only receives location data from GPS satellites. It does not provide the actual maps.

ok, Because I read no service had to be paid I thought not even the internet service, but now I understand. Thank U for the explanation.

Anyway, at least that version does not work on my 8310, or frozes the BB or I click and nothing happens.

Thanks a lot!
