hi guys, just found this forum and wondered if you could help me?

only had my pearl about a month and it was working fine until a couple of weeks ago.

then, one morning i had a "error 523 reset" message. no end of resetting would get the phone going. a call to vodafone(uk) and the lady said the phone needed a software update which could only be done at a vodafone shop. on way to town, the phone fired up on its own.

from that day on, the battery would only last a maximum of 24hrs.

this morning i got the "error 523 reset" message again

i rang vodafone and they told me to take the phone to a shop where they would send it off to be repaired. they told me to take out the memory card and keep hold of it

i took the memory card out and put battery back in....and the phone fired up again!

could this error message, and the battery life problem, both be caused by the memory card??

hope you can help

russ

Did you download any new applications? That could be causing the problem as well. You should be able to do a software update on your own through a pc and desktop manager. Do a search for instructions. Also try doing a wipe handheld and resyncing your BB with your pc. Make sure you do a backup first.

I was getting error message when my memory card was in my device and was indeed the memory card.

Does your device to continue to function well without the card? If so, I would reformat the card first.

hi

yes, the phone is working perfectly well (so far!) without the media card in it

i charged the battery yesterday morning and this morning it is still 90% charged. with the card in (and the use it got yesterday) it would have needed a re-charge after around 18 hours!

i will reformat the media card now and replace it. i wil let you know if battery life is solved

certainly not had any error message today. all apps on phone are factory. i have added no extra apps

Yes, reformat the card and try it again. Some users have reported a faulty Media Card as a source of errors and random reboots.
